I was trying to do this but have run into some problems. First, I have jack stands but they seem to be a little high...how did you lift your car off the ground? Also did you do the front two first then wait 2 hours like it says before putting the wheels back on and then do the front...and then not drive it for 24 hours like the instructions say? I guess I need ideas on how to lift the car.

That's exactly what I did, bro - though I didn't use jack stands - just used my brand new 2 1/2 ton jack. Waited two hours - then put wheels back on and did the backs. I was actually going out of town the next day so the car sat for FOUR days - perfect timing for the painting - but BOY did I miss driving it!

Adrenalin:

Here's what I just bought. However, until the snow melts and the temperature rises, I won't be able to tell you how it works. Got it at the local Performance Improvements outlet.

Oh, and because March 17th is St. Patrick's Day, there may be some green snow on the ground - well, at least some green beer.

We've painted the calipers on other cars before and they've always turned out great. On the New Beetle I had we used Folia Tech two part paint and it held up great. After 4 years it was still shiny, bright red like when we first painted them. We did the jack stand method, doing the front two then the back two. One thing though, the paintbrush that comes with the kit isn't very good. I just bought a better one from the craft department at Wallyworld and it worked great. I'll be doing the same on the 'Stang when we get new wheels for it!

Is that what you call Walmart? All I can think of is Chevy Chase driving across the U.S. on a summer vacation in a godawful station wagon.

When I did mine, I used a 2 1/2 jack, two jack stands, and the stock scissor jack. I jacked the front up and used both stands. Then I used the floor jack and the stock jack to lift the back. I took all four tires off at once. I painted one caliper, then the next. By the time I made a full round, the first caliper was dry enough for the second coat. I waited 24 hours, put the decals on, then the wheels, and drove off. I did it back in Dec, and have had no problems.

Did you do this inside, I assume, in December?
