245/45-18 Tires on 9" Wide Rims - Possible??

I am currently running 18x10 Roush rims with Coopers Zeon 2XS 275/40-18 tires. I am looking at getting new wheels but want to keep the 275's for the rear and get new tires for the front. The rims I am looking at getting are the American Muscle GT4 18x9 for the front and I want to get a set of tires for the front that will match the rears look and brand.

Coopers only offers the Zeon 2XS in either a 245/45 or 255/35, and the 245 matches the sidewall width of the 275's so I am leaning towards that size. My concern is that on Coopers site they state the 245/45 is good for 7.5-9.0" wide rims. Am I pushing it too much to put this tires on this rim?

I am really wanting to keep the coopers, as performance tires in Canada seem to be relly expensive, and I would really just want to get the fronts only, and then I would have 2 sets of rears to use.

Hopefully someone can help me on this.

Sean

Just curious, why do you want to get rid of the Roush wheels? They seem to be the only 10 inch wide wheels that fit the front of the car.

the 245/45 series tire on a 9" wheel is prety much the same as the 235/50 combo that ford uses on it's factory 8.5" wheels. You'll be fine, you're within the tire's spec.

I am tired of the chrome rims. Too much upkeep, and i am going for a different look.

A ton of people in my Thunderbird club run 245-45-18 on 18x9's. You should have no problems at all.

Hey Thanks for that. I guess then I will go this route.

I had 245's on the 8.5x17in wheels, no trouble.
