How much of that is due to the "ringer" rubber?
Slap the same wheels/tires on a stock car and I wonder how they would differ. Not that the Saleen won't handle better, of course it will. But by how much?
For a $40k car ($13k over stock), I would expect far more substance. And to cheat, and still not get that substance confirms the Saleen is more about image than anything else. I think that is what is most upsetting.

What I meant by "ringer" rubber was not that they tried to cheat with the tires, but that the very sticky Corsas will add a lot to suspension performance. I know it is an available option, but it also a key element when talking about suspension test numbers.
To give you an idea, tirerack.com lists the tires under "Competition", and gives them a 60 treadwear. Great for tests. Bad for the wallet when you have to replace them all the time -- especially when 4 cost around $1,500+.
My ultimate point was trying to say by cheating on the engine and using the stickiest rubber they could find, their numbers still weren't all that impressive -- especially when considering it is a $40k+ vehicle. I am sorry I didn't make that more clear.
