you must be dreaming if you think $55k would buy that car.
An aluminum block (wet sump) instead of cast iron, and a bunch of items left off?

If IRS is so expensive to implement, I don't see how the rest of the industry gets by.

I wouldn't have to have IRS, but it would be nice. Most of it seems do-able.

Considering that they will be making about 10,000 shelbys a year, there is plenty of room in there for a high-powered special version

I got an email from a friend at AAI today. As suspected, job 1 did not happen today. So, I guess we can put a lot of faith in the boneheads other statements. I don't understand how Ford could let him say things like that.

I think they say that crap on purpose just to see how far it will go on the net. I guess he could get in trouble if it was in writing, but I think they're reading this and giggling.

The top brass of Ford is always guarded and choose their words very carefully most of the time. They have learned the timing factor is just as important as releasing information. They don't enjoy having to eat their own words.

I doubt this Ford rep offered anything but his own personal opinion.

The Ford rep at the Detroit show may be correct.
This from BON:

The new Cobra is supposed to start production this week at AAI. if I got the info right, they will do a run of about 50 this week for test purposes, ...........

And another from someone who appears to be an AAI worker:

Yes, we start Monday.
Again this is a pilot run, just like when Ford built a pilot run of 300 05 Mustangs in June of 2004. I'd guess that some of the 50 pilot GT-500s will be loaned out to the media so there are full test reviews of the GT-500 to coincide with full production start in June.

Now that makes sense. Maybe that clown isn't such a bonehead after all.

Given the news that Ford put out on Monday, I don't think I would like anybody at any Ford Facility working on "my" Shelby!

I'm sure their "state of mind" is rather poor right now, and their focus isn't where it would be if they just found out that everyone was getting a raise. I feel for those who are being laid off and for those who really don't know their fate with Ford.

I asked my contact at AAI about Job 1, not pilot run. His response:

Hi Kevin, I'm sure that was a nice show, but job 1 will not start just yet. thanks. ***

You might reach that conclusion if you are not aware of the benefits negotiated by the unions which are part of the labor contracts. It does not beat having a job but my understanding is that the financial benefits, retraining grants, and tuition for displaced Ford employees are quite generous.

No, I don't know who that is.

I chose that name from Neil Young and Crazyhorse. I consider Cobras crazy mustangs, so, crazyhorse fit.
