Everyone seems to keep caling the '07 SE Edition a Shelby Cobra GT 500 when it is in fact officially called the Shelby GT 500. This is clearly stated at the NY Auto Show AND in the recently posted Motor Trend article. The official name of the 2007 Special Edition model is the Shelby GT 500.
I think people keep calling it a Cobra because the Subforum is named as such... could be a bit confusing, and I'd ask that the mods change the name of the Subforum to the proper name, the Shelby GT 500.
Now, I know it's hard for some guys because they are so attached/used to the Cobra name, so I'll try to explain the difference between a Shelby Cobra and a Ford Cobra as clearly as possible. You see, the Shelby Cobra is a two-seater roadster, so it's impossible for a Shelby Cobra to be anything other than a roadster. Now the FORD Cobra on the other hand, is a performance coupe. Shelby's Cobra is a roadster, Ford's Cobra is a coupe. Very simple.

With all due respect, and aggreement with the differences in a Shelby roadster and an SVT Cobra, you may need to mention that little tidbit to the folks over at ford/svt because they list it as the opposite.
To see what I mean.. check svt.ford.com

I call it the GT500, unless Shelby's newly formed vigilante militia pays a visit and beats the hail out of me.

It's not a Coke...It's a Pepsi...Some people always want to be right!
Let's go with what Ford says!...Afterall I don't re-call a "Ford Shelby Cobra Roadster" or a "GT500 Shelby Cobra Roadster" either...Then again, I could be wrong...OK, Just give me a soda!

If it isn't called Cobra anywhere in the freakin name, why did they put those snake thingys on the car? I always thought those were the cobra badges. "The Cobra snake logo featured on the rear medallion continues the tradition of both the vintage Shelby Mustangs and the modern SVT Mustang Cobras."
I suppose I really don't care what it's called either-as long as I can even get one. With only 7000 being made, it seems it's going to be a chore to get ahold of one, let alone paying premium for it!
