Nice... how much off the asking price if you nix the flight to Detroit, limo ride, dinner with execs, and the plant tour? LOL, just want the car and the jacket. XD

ANOTHER...Saleen!

It's hard to believe that it's been 25 years since Steve Saleen first founded Saleen Autosport. The company has made a profound impact on the Mustang world since then, producing some of the highest performing Mustangs on the market. The company has a tradition of producing limited-edition anniversary models, starting with the SA-5 Mustang in 1988, the SA-10 in 1993, SA-15 in 1998, and most recently the SA-20 in 2003. That time has rolled around again, and Saleen has announced the SA-25 Sterling Edition Mustang.

Based on the S302 Extreme, the Sterling Edition gets the same supercharged V8 pushing out 620 horsepower and 600 lb-ft torque. Visually separating it from the standard version are unique 5-spoke forged wheels, handpainted "Gun Sight" racing stripes and anniversary fender badges. In addition to the standard Saleen interior upgrades, the Sterling Edition gets a push-button electric start, Black Diamond alcantara seats with leather accents, a navigation system and a serialized center plaque. Buyers will also get luxury treatment, including a first class flight to Detroit, limo transportation to and from the airport, dinner with Saleen executives, a hosted tour of the Saleen plant, and a custom leather jacket among other things. Only 25 will be built at a price of $99,995. It's definitely not for the typical Mustang buyer, but we're sure there are several Saleen faithful out there who will want one in the garage.

I've always like the Saleens, some of the best front end and hood treatment out there. Never liked the rear though. This car looks like it'll be a stunner.

I agree, the newest Saleen's have got a slick design with no useless add-ons. They just look sexy!

Chicagoland is my home state and I recently spotted some dealership's flatbed transport-truck moving a silver Saleen S281. It was coming towards me on the opposite side of the street and I swear, about 3 or 4 cars ahead of me in fast, light traffic slowed down to stare as it passed by.

I've seen a Roush Mustang or two, but I never do a 180' for a second look- this Saleen, however, gave me and a few others a pleasant after-work sight to behold. (I guess seeing it in person really does alter opinions sometimes! lol)

If they do and a set of four is made exclusively for this car, they sure will be expensive. They're at least 20" in size, which will cost a small fortune. God they're hot though. Funny how this car makes the current 3-4 year old Mustang look new all over again.

PS- Doctor Evil wants sharks with lasers on their heads. I want a steel-paneled building to drive a silver Saleen into, lol... those pics from Autoblog are awesome.

I've said it before and I'll say it again...
I don't like the look of 20" wheels on the S197.
Maybe they need 20" wheels to clear the brakes.
That is the only reason I could see to put them on.

I really don't mind Saleen doing the amount of SEs they are doing since they are doing EXTREMELY limited runs on each (25? 100? 500?)

If they were totally mass producing these, that would be something else. These will truly be rare cars

I think the whole point of owning and buying a SALEEN is for the limited edition aspect, hence the company slogan "Power in the Hands of a Few." Really what does it come down to, basically it's a re engineered mustang, simliar to what Shelby did in the 60's. As far as the 20 inch wheels, I believe you are correct Karman, because of the brake systems used, 14 and 15 inch pizza pie rotors. Overall, I think the Saleen, Roush, Foose, and Steeda mustangs are a nice change from what you see everyday with the Gt 500 and Mustang GT. I think the really nice point is that there is value added from the consumer standpoint.

I love the interior in my GT500, but I want that interior in my car. That dash and those seats are awesome. The dash reminds me of the new Aston Marting DBS.

Looking at that side profile? Ouch. I may get tired of hearing about Saleen's high prices, but I never get tired of looking at them.

I know it's been said before, some folks get tired of too many SE's out there, but what exactly about the modding hobby has EVER been hurt by options! I just love that people are still putting effort into thinking up cool things to do to my car!
