Well my SCT-2 came in today so I installed my Steeda CAI, Magnaflow axle-back and loaded up the tune. These changes made a huuuge difference in the car! This is how the car should be from the factory! It feels like I gained at least 30 hp. There is no more hesitation now and the car will boil the rear tire from a stop. Rolling acceleration is just as impressive, when you floor it, it just goes! It pulls strong up to at least 5000 rpm and shifts at around 5800-6000. It feels as fast or faster than my '92 5.0. The Magnaflow sounds really good. I got the SCT-2 from Bamachips for only $365 and they did a great job on the tune. My next mods will definitely be a T-Lok and 3.73 gears.

Awsome !

I was looking at the exact same set up, I have the money in my hand ready to jump. I was just worried about warranty issues because of the retune.

How does the magnaflow sound ? Got a sound Clip ?

Zodiac 6/11/05 04:36 PM

Yes! Soundclip! Im dieing to know what kind of difference the CAI makes in sound!

I'll see what I can do about getting the wife's laptop out there and making one. I plan on taking it to the strip as soon as they have a "test and tune" night. It sure feels like a mid 14 second car now. I may be overly enthusiastic but darn, it feels strong. I'd highly recommend this combo. Well worth the money and it's an easy install.

5800 rpm shifts? you have the automatic? that shift point sounds dangerously high for the vale train...what's the redline on the 4.0 cologne? jackg 90seville 97k

ManEHawke 6/11/05 05:53 PM

6K is where the redline starts if I'm not mistaken.

That is awesome Jimp!!! I can't wait to see your results. All of these gains everyone has, makes me happy.

Nice! :nice: I forget if you are running the stock tires or something else?

I have the Gt Bullit wheels and tires from Casco. Even with the wider tread traction is a problem. That's why I'm planning the t-lok and gears next. :metal:

5800 is where the shifts are set at from the factory under WOT but it won't reach that totally because the factory's torque reduction and the way it backs off on the throttle when it gets close to the 6100 rpm's rev limiter.

Just a tune will help these vehicles out tremendously, even in 87 more as already seen. With the new torque values from SCT's tuning and then my own personal spark tables you will notice an entirely new driving feel and throttle response.

Thanks guy and just let me know if I can do anything else for you in the future!

Later Doug. :nice:

the motors makes it maximum hp at 5200...anything after that and the curve starts to drop off. that's why whenever you buy an aftermarket device, ANY aftermarket device, always get a power graph for the hp and torque. i would need to hear directly frorm a ford powertrain engineer that the valve train is engineered for 5800 rpm shifts. it's important for owners to know the capability of their engines. jackg 90seville 97k

Well ya know if it peaks at 5800 then 6K should be like 5600... right? ...Right? hehehe

justgreat 6/13/05 08:03 AM

actually, thinking back on my post, taking the car to 6000 is no big deal, probably...you're only there for an instant and then you shift. if you were to operate the car at that rpm range for an exteneded period...i suspect you would be shopping for a new powerplant some time soon.

Yeah the peak hp is made before 5800, so shifting at 5800 keeps you in the power band. Going over 6k won't really do much during acceleration, but it will help you in top speed runs.
