I want dual exhaust that GROWLS for my V6

So I was just about to get the flowmasters force 2 and the mechanic told me that this dynomax has a better sound (and it was cheaper) but I dunno. I really want a growl and some of these pipes I hear sound like a cheap *** Honda civic hook up, and the mechanic told me no matter what i do it wont sound even like GT....I called bull**** but can somebody help me out?

chessmanmark 9/21/12 06:57 PM

How does this compare?

SilverSkoundrel 9/21/12 07:30 PM

Ive been throwing this idea around for a while. I like the sound of the muffler deletes from the ones ive heard, except for they seem to get pretty raspy at higher rpms....how do your pypes sound w/o mufflers?

Womprat 10/24/12 04:13 PM

I have a nice sounding set of Stainlessworks headers, offroad x pipe and s-type mufflers that sound awesome if interested. Full kit.

atrav83 10/25/12 10:11 AM

And if you need some headers I have pypes Shorties that I'll sell for cheap

This would all bolt up to an 05 V6?

I personally have the Dynomax Catback #39434 and my cousin has the Flowmaster Force II on his V6 and I can say the Flowmaster is louder. The Flowmaster also fit better than the dynomax did. When I redo my exhaust I am going with a MAC Flowpath Catback and MAC ProChamber and Shorty headers.

My Dynomax

That actually sounds really good. They have this on sale at Advacned auto parts for 330. That seems super cheap. At that price I'm supprised more people dont have it. You've been pretty happy with it?

The01Cav 12/31/12 12:24 PM

It's not too bad, I had some rattles at first, but that was fixed with putting OEM Muffler hangers on it to replace the stiff ones that come with the kit.

I converted my wife's 06 V6 to duals over five years ago. I used a MAC Prochamber that was made especially for the V6 with 2 1/4 inch inlets and 2 1/2 outlets. I got it slightly used off ebay for about $160 shipped. The rest is OE GT duals. I had the driver's side midpipe left over from my 05 GT and the rest (mufflers, collar clamp and 2 hangers) from Casco, when I got my GT rear bumper, painted rocker panels, front bumper, grill & fogs. The stang now belongs to my son and the duals sound great with the The closest you'll get to sounding like a GT/V8, is using one of these MAC Prochambers. Below is a photo of the V6, which looks and sounds almost like a GT, so much so that the last time it was detailed, the detailer was shocked when he opened up the hood to see a V6, LOL.

Installing the prochamber required cutting the y-pipe just in front of the exhaust hangers, which is behind the cats. Then the prochamber just slipped over the cut pipes and I secured each joint with a clamp. The install was pretty easy. My MAC Prochamber is Part Number: PC2250 (2005*-2007 V6 Mac Pro-Chamber, 2.25" in, 2.5" out, *2005 only if manufactured after 8-30-05).

No matter what nothing sounds as good as a V8! I've done the best I could with an x-pipe and GT mufflers. It sounds better than stock but anything more aggressive just sounds too raspy to me. I like deep and mellow better.

It won't ever sound like a v8. Though that doesn't mean it can't sound good. Though it will only sound like a good v6 not a 8. I recommend a chamber style muffler. Straight through mufflers will make it raspier than it normally is already. I know I've been there on my last car which was a 06 v6. Flowmasters probably wouldn't be such a bad route to go! Hope you get the sound your looking for!

I'm not sure what year your V6 is. I have the Flowmaster Axle back Force II exhaust for my 11 v6 and I love it. The car has a very aggressive sounding growl. Its no V8 but I think it sounds awesome and much louder than the stock dual exhaust. I would strongly recommend the Flowmaster exhaust for V6. Flowmasters sound awesome on mustangs in my opinion. There is only one way to get your car to sound like a true V8 and that's too buy a v8 mustang. Buy the Force II and you will not regret.

Agreed. I've had mine on for a week and love them. They look way better than stock also.
