I just found that instead of adding a fuse in the SJB you can pickup the 12V from the F21 fuse at the switch of the clutch position switch (C257) or at the ATF sensor for automatics (C167).
That would avoid that "add a fuse" hardware and the 10amps fuse should be more than enough to power the relay. See diagram below: |

Mess up Willie's add a fuse.... I can't think of anything bad... A little extra work will keep the mods fault tolerance high. |

Excellent 'How-To' Steve. Just added to the Hotlinks sticky. I don't hand these out to often.. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...ofApproval.jpg |
Update: After having this installed for awhile, I am still giving this mod a 10/10. Works everytime, no need to turn off the T/C by hand anymore.

Ditto , Love it ... Thanks Steved
|
I finally got around to doing this mod and it works great. I used the 'original' Steved method of accessing everything from behind the center stack. Thanks again Steved for doing the grunt-work, we all appreciate it!:nice:

2 weeks after doing this mod I love it !!!
I didn't use the "Add a fuse" method because I didn't like how it fit inside that fuse cover and the fact that you couldn't replace the cover after. I used the clutch switch power instead, its easy to locate and don't have to pull the radio out. |
Has anybody done this to a car built in 2008. There have been some changes that I've encountered with wiring and all. So, question is, is it same mod for 08's?
|
really good writeup....I wish I would have done this last year when I first bought my car...now I have become acustom to turning it off manually...just like checking your mirrors..."left view...check! right view...check! rear view...check! TCS...CHECK!!!! or putting on your seat belt everytime, right before you put your car in gear.
Just muscle memory I guess..:dunno: ________________________________------------------______________________________ |
Didn't put this mod in the 500, never had the TC interfere with my driving in that car.
Now the Whipple in the CS that's another story.... |
Steved , of all the mods I've done , this is one of my favorite. Thanks ... On the 500 I believe the TC works differently and is designed to actually help with launches , unlike ours ...

I need some help. Just did this mod and when I start my car it does go to off, then changes right back to on
edit: tried another relay, does the same thing. tried moving some wires around, and it either stayed always off and i couldnt hit the button to turn it back on, or it just turned off, then back on shortly after starting. |
Sorry , no clue ? I did mine following the instructions back when this thread was started and it's worked fine since then ...
|
Hey Dez,
I'm away on business this week. When I get home I'll look throught my drawings and stuff. Sorry for the delay. |
Ok steved. Currently I have the relay in there with the power and tcs wire swapped on the relay end, which make it always off, but I don't have the option to turn it back on.

help me to understand this..
Can't you just turn off the TC via the hand held tuner that most everyone has that has had a tune put on their car?? |

ahh, got cha! Thanks

Dez. The circuit works signaling the computer to switch TC on and off with a ground signal. I don't think you want to be putting 12 V on the TCS wire. Why don't you lift and tape the power wire until I get back home, and I'm not doing this on my phone.
Edit: Ok, just played with a Mustang out here. TC is cycled during the start sequence by the computer. That could be the on off you're seeing durning start. 1) turn your radio on and start your car. Did the radio stop playing durning start? Yes, than that wire is still good. No, check fuse. 2) if the above worked. Verify you get 12v to the relay wire during start. Hook a meter to the power wire. See if you get 12v when cranking and no voltage before and after. We can go on from here. |
