got some solid grad money and want some long tube headers, looking at the stainless works kit complete with high flow cats and the works. will these require new motor mounts like ive heard the jba's do? how difficult is the installation? can i have an exhaust shop chop the stock exhaust and hook it up to the headers/cats? (will i be able to keep the stock h-pipe?)

i really want to keep the noise increase at a minimum, and love the stock exhaust note (though i will enjoy having it be deeper), so i do NOT want to get a new exhuast/mulffler/tips/etc setup, just chop as little of it off as possible and hook it up to the headers...possible? intall price approx?

You don't have to replace the motor mounts. I did just to make it right. Your installer will like you better if you do. It'll make it easier getting the header into position. The installation isn't that bad. I was going to do my own, but my car was already at the shop waiting on a new differential, so I had them install it during the wait. They told me it was a pain getting the first few bolts on. Other than that, plenty of room, no rubbing, no leaks. They are really nice headers. I'd suggest getting them ceramic coated. If I had it to do all over again, I would get them coated. I have the 1 3/4" long tubes and a full 3" exhaust-less cats. It sounds great at idle and at acceleration. Once you get over 3000 rpm in a hard acceleration, it's a bit loud. In the past, I really didn't like exhausts that loud, but I love this one. It's a head turner at the track. The headers come with adapters to hook them up to stock exhaust. I'll post some pics of the installed exhaust tomorrow. I just have to get it on the lift. I approached just an ordinary exhaust shop and they wanted $1200 to install the entire exhaust. I told them I'll keep my money. My mechanic treats me right.

Are you talking about "Long Tube" or "Short Tube" headers?

I was planning on getting the "shorties". Are the shorties just as hard to install? or is it different?

either one is not going to be an easy job...space is tight and you going to have to bend you body in some weird positions that you never knew existed....
