Slight noise while coming to a stop
 

A while ago I had my 4.10's, Detroit Truetrac and FRPP axle girdle installed. Not too long after that I noticed that I was hearing a slight clicking noise while coming to a stop. It doesn't happen while turning or anything else, only while going straight and coming to a stop. It also seems to slow down while I'm slowing down. Example the clicking is a little faster then get's slower as I'm moving slower, it does seem like it's a rotational issue I'm just not sure where or with what. It also seems to be happneing more than at first. I'll be taking it to the shop next week to have them recheck everything just thought I would see what everyone had to say.

It is pobably something that wasn't secured properly. If the noise is slowing down as the car slows down it must be something hitting the drive shaft or a wheel/brake rotor, etc.

If it were a part of the rearend internals it should make the noise all the time and will continure to get louder and louder.

While it makes sense what your saying, the issue wasn't there prior to having the things mentioned done. Also it doesn't happen every single time but quite often enough. It's definitely coming from the drivetrain area and I know it's not the brakes or wheels......just stumped. I thought about maybe something coming in contact with the driveshaft and will check that out.

It could be the calipers hanging a bit, then sliding and making a click or clank sound. I think that's the noise I hear when I roll to a stop, when I am pushing the brake gently. I haven't pulled the wheels to check it yet.

I have new Steeda strut bearings, new Ford struts, new Ford front swaybar endlinks, Steeda Sport springs, a one piece aluminum driveshaft. Fresh alignment with bearings checked. And the noise was there before and is still there.

So go figure.

Supposedly, that noise is characteristic of the TrueTrac and nothing to worry about. People say it's best to use Ford Lubricant (75W-140, part # XY-75W140-QL). I've been doing some research lately, because I'm considering the same, 4.10's, TrueTrac and girdle, plus 1-piece aluminum DS.

I’m having the exact same problem and can’t figure it out I have a 1997 cobra with a t56 transmission and ford IRS rear end with aluminum driveshaft and I don’t know what this noise is and it doesn’t always do it but it’s driving me crazy trying to figure it out and hear it and pin point it while driving. Did you ever figure out what was going on with this
