Shifter

I'm thinking about putting a shifter in my car. I've heard varried suggestions from Steeda Tri-ax to B&M to Hurst to leave the stock one.
What advantages are any of you seeing with an upgraded shifter?
Does it get rid of the 2nd to 3rd mis-shift?

Did you guys compared the Hurst to the Stock shifter when you installed it? You are aware its the same stamped steel shifter the stocker is with a few small upgrades?
That said I have installed both Steeda and Pro 5.0 and am not thrilled with the brass bushing design which makes either 1-2 stiff or 5 and Rev stiff. They do shift nice and positive but the stiffness sucks.

From a source, i was told that a new shifter is not needed for the fix of missing 3rd gear, instead, a Shifter Brace can be used and can save you $100 and retain the stock shifter. You will not only keep the shifter from moving on top of the transmission, but you will also never miss 3rd gear again...... As told by Paul's High Performance

I just installed a Pro 5.0 short-throw shifter in mine, and all I can say is  :drive: :headbang: Etc. This thing rocks! I haven't driven any other shifters out there, but this piece is awesome. It uses the stock ball. I love it.

Ok Scott,
Could you please drive over here to Dacula and install one for me? Just kidding, but where could I get one installed?

I have the Steeda and love it - do alot of downshifting, etc and it is precise. To me the stiffness is not a problem. Having said that, there have been some install problems with it and I don't think I have read a negative on the Hurst.

Another vote for the Hurst. I installed it last week with the chrome stick and white shifter ball. I'm very picky about these type of things and I love the Hurst after about a week of driving it. It seems like the B&M is a nice shifter too although I haven't felt it myself. I guess it comes down to personal preference but after a lot of research I went Hurst (after driving my '94 GT with one for 10 years) and I'm not second guessing or looking back now.

Hey Brad, I too have been thinking of putting a shifter in my car, once it arrives, and I put a few miles on it. I always had interest in the B & M Shifter, and once I saw the one post in this section, on the whole intall, and his video of the difference between stock and the aftermarket, it pretty much make my mind up. Plus B & M also supply the shifter for the Ford GT, andI can say from experience ( I have driven a Ford GT several times) that it has one of the BEST and smoothest shifters I have ever used. I vote for the B & M.
