sct tunner by evo performance for 06 gt
I own a 2005 5speed manual GT and it is purelly stock except that i just got me self a tunner with a custom 95 octane from fred @ evo performance.
i can feel a bit off power, but not the expected power, the rpm now can hit 6,500 and it easily chirps when shifting to 3rd,but i raced an automatic mustang which i really left him behind by 2 car lengths and i was still going slowly...,i raced a manual 350z and i ate him i get him easily,But i dont think thats the correct power i should have, well the reason is because in here we have the 95 octane and the 98 octane .. and i dont think its the same octane that other countries use,,, I MEAN USA off course. so Im using our 98 octane for your 95 octane tune, and i can also see that my average miles per gallon is not what its used to be .. now my mustang is a gas hauler.. the 230 km from full tank got it to before the half by little but now its on the half... and what is worst is that the city mpg is not the way it used to be ... it drinks gas in the city more than the highway... do u think i should reorder the tune ? and who has the best custom tune ? i know evo performance is great with tunes and is a specialist on auto tranny mustang tunes.. but who is the manual tranny custom tune specialist ? im soon going to equip 4.10 gears and an aluminum drive shaft my mods are what i like to call stealth mods... I want to have more power, safe power, something that cannot be seen normally, im thinking of u/d pullies with electric water pump and a better alternator ... which company or shop sells a better alternator ? |
We can get only 93 Octane here. I did not know that there was a 95 octane tune available anywhere. You use 98 Octane fuel? Holy crap! That's aviation fuel. The USA factory ford tune is for a poor grade, 87 octane fuel. When I installed my 93 Octane tune, my power went up, and my mileage went up, as well. I know that higher octane fuels burn faster and require ignition timing changes in order for the engine to function properly. I expect that the difference between a 93 octane tune and a 98 octane tune will not be all that much, in regards to power output, because gains will be limited by the factory piston compression ratio. Maybe somebody else can chime in here, as I am swimming a little out of my depth in regards to the relationship between octane and compression ratios.
With that kind of octane available to you, I think larger gains can be yours by going with higher compression pistons, in order to take advantage of the increased octane. Sometimes Octane alone will not increase performance significantly, even with a better tune. Good luck to you. |
