Premium Gas?
Hey Guys,
sorry if this has come up before, but not having owned a Mustang before:
what kind of gas will the '05 GT run on? Does it need premium? Or is regular ok? What about the Cobra (current and upcoming)? Gas prices being what they are here in L.A., these are important questions to me. Regular gas is about $2.40 right now. Yikes!

The thing you need to remember about modern cars, when they tell you premium it is a recommendation, not an absolute necessity. If you look in the owners manual it will tell you it will run on regular, but you won't have the full performance of the engine. The computer can handle the engine running on regular.

You are correct, I was just adding some info that some people don't know when they are looking at cars and people tell them they have to use premium. They don't HAVE to, but it is recommended.

Stock:
Anything above and beyond what it SHOULD run at...is a waste.
You can throw it in if you want...but you really are throwing away your cash.
If you have computer modifications that require higher octane, then obviously you should use it.
FROM the FACTORY: the 05 GT 3v is an 87 Octane engine.

To put it bluntly...
The engine is designed/tuned to run on the recommended '87 octane' unleaded gasoline.
Putting in a higher octane gasoline, will do nothing more than rob your wallet of the extra 10 cents a litre (canadian premium is 10Cents more than 87 regular)
It is not designed/tuned to make use of the higher 89/91/92/94 etc octane gasolines.
When and if you mod your car and modify the way the engine timing/supercharging what have you....
It may (more times than not) require you to run a richer octane.
But doing it because its 'better' is a totally useless argument.
If you want to do it...great...but its a total placebo..
