Hello Predator owners...want to update my predator...says you have to load original tune back to car. Why? can't you download it to computer file or onto disk...and upload back to Predator later?

This is just a wild azz guess, but since the r22 update is revising some underlying code in the Predator, it may need to be reset for it to work right. Putting the factory tune back in resets the Predator. When I updated mine, I did it the way they say, and it went well. No problems.

I didn't fool with it either... did exactly what they wanted... put the original tune back on, downloaded r22, and then reflashed... seemless...

As I just got my Predator, I updated it a.s.a.p. However, I think they want you to put the backup back in your car because the update my change the formatting of the included tunes.

I also think I understand why the K&N doesn't "need" a tune, as they require use of the HC Trap. I bet if I were to take the HC trap out of my K&N filter I would be running lean. I'm still waiting for a "proven" K&N tune, that doesn't require the HC trap.

You put the original tune back on your car because when you update the OS on the Predator it basically overwrites everything. If you did not restore your original tune you would not have it anymore. That is why when you update your Predator, whatever aftermarket tunes you had on there are no longer there ( huh don... )

Yup... reflashing back to the factory tune will "reset" the Predator and delete any downloaded tunes (like the C&L tunes).

I was ready for it when I installed r22. After r22 went in, I re-uploaded the C&L tunes too... took 5 seconds or so. Then reflashed the car.
