If you are running a new tune already and then swap out your factory H for an X with high flow cats, do you need to have your tune adjusted for this??

acadian 2/1/06 11:45 AM

I don't believe so. It definitely shouldn't make your CEL come on. You might ask Doug if he'll adjust your tune for that... because it may help you get a few more horses by letting the computer know you have the high-flow cats and adjusting any a/f ratios to compensate.

The only thing you need to tune is the 02 sensors, turn them off with the tuner or get MILs eliminators if you change the mid-pipe for an off-road pipe without the cats!

ehhh not true.

I ran the bassani xpipe without the cats...and with the hiflow cats....on the stock canned predator tune....and never not a check engine light. :dunno:

well, i think it is a 50/50 chance you get the CEL with the rear O2 sensors on. All you need to do is turn them off to be safe. I asked doug if any other adjustments need to be made, and I was going with an O/R H and SLPs, and he said I would be fine with the tune I already had.

Burke0011 2/1/06 01:12 PM

No lights on my end :nice:

Just curious about the performance aspect of it....

Thanks fellaz!

acadian 2/1/06 03:08 PM

Correct me if I'm wrong here, but you need to have the o2 sensers turned off only if you have an off-road mid-pipe. Dave has the high-flow cats. So the o2 sensors can be left on. I'd just be worried about having too much back pressure with the computer thinking you have on the stock cats, and that somehow affecting HP. But you definitely shouldn't get a CEL with high-flows.

I had the bassani xpipe installed first without the cats....and drove it like that for like a week.

No CEL Light.

Kluski 2/2/06 10:27 AM

I have a bassani X-Pipe with no cats and I have the O2 senssors on, no CEL.

tom281 2/2/06 03:54 PM

I ran with the Pypes off-road H pipe for almost 2 weeks with the O2 sensors on; had no CEL. Then, out of the blue during the 3rd week I got the CEL. The codes were for the sensors and I shut them off; no problem since then.

Again, this is with an off-road pipe. I would think that with a catted pipe, there should be no reason to turn the sensors off.

How do you plan I getting by inspection, are you just going to throw the cats on beforehand?

No tune is required for the x pipe with high flow cats. Performance change is very minimal. Sound change is outstanding IMO.

So far, this is my weekend car. I plan on driving less than 5,000 miles before inspection. Therefore I can claim emissions exempt. I can drive in there like I am and don't have to get tested. But if I do run over, I will swap them out for the high flows.

So far since Oct 2005, I have driven about 500 miles. Mostly because the weather up hear sucks. But when the track opens, that mileage might change.

Burke0011 2/3/06 11:02 AM

Funny - you don't even have to worry about emissions anymore in Florida....... (least in South Florida)

emperorjordan 2/3/06 05:00 PM

well, even in smoggy CA, I have no smog test till 2011.... and I plan to keep my O/R on till then.
