Need Replacement tires..
 

Have 42K on the originals...17" rims...looking for a slightly wider and slightly lower profile tire....vehicle is lowered...eibach springs....any suggestions on tire type and size? vehicle is daily driver....probably figure 20K miles driven a year......what brand as well? thanks...

Based on Reviews by Tire Rack I am electing to go with the GoodYear Eagle F1 All Season tires. They were rated well for dry, wet, and mild snow. I know the KDWS tires on the 18" rims are good year round, but the wet weather performance was not rated as high as the GoodYears.
The 17" rims unfortunately don't have a KDWS available.

I'm a bit of a "keep it American" type and thus I didn't go with something like a Kuhmo. A friend of mine runs Subarus and swears by the Kumho price and performance. The fitment for your car is listed on TireRack.com.

TireRack has been right for me 5 other times. I usually do about 10 hours of research before I buy tires, so I'm a bit of a fanatic on tires.

I'm getting the F1 tires in April, so if you need to switch now, I'm not going to have much input until then. If you do go with the F1 tires, please leave some feedback this direction.

Inverted, now is a good time to consider getting another set of 17" rims off ebay and getting some good snow tires, that way you don't worry about all weather traction. I've had a set of 17" Michelin X-ice for a few years, I put about 3500 a year on them, they work great, and I have some 18" fanblades for spring/summer/fall. If you've got garage space, it's the best way to go.

Oh, and that way you can get the less expensive KDWS

i have slightly the same question about changing the tire size and Xcal2........... now i have the stock wheels and tires 235-55-17, and i want to move with Nitto 255-40-17.....everything i need is to insert the rev per mile into the Xcal2 and it's done or i should need other thing?? i'm waiting for your comments...... thanks!!!

Thats a pretty drastic drop in overall diameter, say hello to more wheel well gap.

what do you suggest me in tire size to not being too drastic? , because i don't want to buy new wheels this year........

I run Kumho's on mine. Its got a lot of overall grip, i'd say at least a time and a half more than stock. But when the tire loses grip...its over. They're quick to regain traction but its a sharp threshold between 100% grip and 100% drift.
