MGW Shifter Installed

It took 3.5 hours over the weekend, but I got the shifter installed. Thank you Taco Bill for the write up. If it was not for that I might still be sitting there.

Thanks to the weather I am able to drive the car the last two days and it is like driving a different car. I just have to get use to first and reverse. I find at a standing stop sometimes I put it in third instead of first. Guess it is just a learning curve.

The springs will loosen up after a while and make it a lot easier to get into first. After you break them in it's hard to miss any shift.

This Is the shifter I will most likely get also. I do have one concern, Ive read where a few people in the past have had an issue with the shifter rubbing thru the shifter boot. I wonder if this problem has already been fixed by MGW? Does it look like you will have this problem with your shifter? I realy hope this has been taken care of because from everything I have read this is by far the best shifter for our cars and the few other items I have purchased from MGW have been perfect.

this issue has been resolved we modified the bracket clamp to sit lower on the shifter now.

also we now have a STAIGHT UP bracket if you do not want the shifter to be back further any. it sits right on top of the shifter and runs along the centerline, only limitation is that it is not able to adjust the postion of it like the original handle.

Any chance of another group buy or TMS discount? I know there's quite a few of us who have been thinking about purchasing one recently.

My wife bought me the shifter for Christmas and she purchased it online from MGW. I think the price was like $295.00. I did the install with the front end on jack stands. It would have been easier on a lift. I did buy a set of those ratching wrenches from Sears that you only have to move a little for it to work and it was perfect for the tight space.

You can get by without the ratcheting box end wrenches. Once that particular bolt is broken loose with a standard box or open end wrench, you can move the shifter body around enough with your other hand so that you can continue to run that bolt out with your fingers, without the wrench.

Your interior looks awesome! I plan to get an MGW shifter sometime in the next few months too, it looks to be a very well engineered setup.

Rob I really have not heard of anyone complaining about this issue. Actually I wasn't aware this existed. I've had mine installed for close to 3k miles and its been nothing but shear JOY I think you will be most pleased to purchase and install this shifter on your Mustang. There are many good shifters out there and each have qualities that appeal to different folks here. So you really can't go wrong but I can say without hesitation that the MGW for me was the right choice and it's been sheer heaven.

I've had mine for months now and still think about how great it is compared to my old triax every time I drive it. With Prothane mounts, Centerforce clutch, and my MGW I can keep my gas foot on the floor and bang third as fast as my hand can move. Love it!

Thanks. I think the seats are one of my better mods. Especially since the local car upholstry guy charged me only $400 total for materials and labor.

I have one of the original shifters and it rubbed a few holes in the boot. I think I adjusted it so it won't cause any further damage.
