Do you think the top of the license plate will hit against the bumper at speed? I see the possibility of the screws used to secure the license plate scratching up the bumper as the wind beats against the plate. Then again, it looks like more than half of the bottom of the plate is not held against the mounting straps so I suppose the center of the moment of forces will be such that the license plate will always want to pull away from the top... but then again... ;)

I wont be using those screws.. Ill have a round screw facing forwards away from the bumper.. Also I will have rubber bumpers on the back of the screw just in case.

I would Reccomend a Couple of Vacuum Caps on the Backside of the Screws. It would act as a bumper and protect the area from damage if the Plate were bumped. Sometimes Simpler is the way to go!

very good idea...any shots of what it looks like from the front WITH the plate sitting in place? I see you alredy hava front view without it, but I'd like to know where the plate sits. Also, any thoughts of putting the plate a little lower?

I was supposed to get this thing built this weekend but ... I was "forced" to paint some rooms in our house :/.. Might be another week before I can get something put together. I think its hilarious that you guys wanna buy it... I dont think Im good enough to perfectly bend 12 aluminum brackets :).. As far as position goes it sits int he same spot that the stock plate does.. the screws line up with the holes. I mainly have it that way for reference. But as I said its your option to drill the brackets higher on the backside and make the plate sit lower. But thats about as high as it will go right now.

Correction... It will go higher but it would look retarded since it would be over top of that "lip"

Maybe we can find someone on here how doe smetal fab and you too could work together :)

Well actually with 1.5" wide 1/8thick steel instead of aluminum it would be strong enough to ram large objects with:). I was questioning the aluminum but in the store it feels pretty sturdy so I hope it retains its shape but steel would be incredibly strong. I just dont have a way to bend it. I need to get a mig welder again and just build it that way using steel..

Hay I just saw this it is a great idea. I own a machin shop/ stamping house. That type of bracket would be very easy to make. What if we take it a step father and make it out of 300 series stainless steel.

Is there something wrong with using the same double-sided tape used on other external accessories? [i.e. hood scoops, badges, "trim" pieces] That would be my solution anyways.

I'm really interested in this because it is the law in the UK to have a front plate, but right now it is just sitting on dash in view. I'm trying to avoid drilling the front if I can, and was thinking about that 3m adhesive tape too but I've never used it so I don't know if it would work well. Anyone else chime in?

I don't see were tape will not work the only problem I can see is if someone tryed to ripe it off the car how well will the tape hold, I just like the idea of have it fastened to the car with screws. but that's my $.02
