I Need Help!!!
This morning when I was coming home from work I noticed that I had the check engine light come on. The car felt fine, nothing out of the ordinary that I could sense. When I got home I plugged in my XCAL2 from Bamachips. I went to check for the trouble code and when it prompted me to turn the key to the on position my XCAL2 shut off and wouldn't work anymore. I took the key out & unplugged my XCAL2, started up my car, shut it off. I tried to plug my XCAL2 in again, but it wont power up. When I went to leave for work this evening I realized that my gauges aren't working, the needles aren't moving and my colour wont turn on, even the info centre stuff isn't working. The car runs fine, I disconnected the battery and let it sit for a few minutes and it didn't help(on a plus side it must have cleared something in the memory because it seems to have a bit more power). I'm at work now, I've disconnected the battery again and hopefully it makes a difference if it sits longer. I have never had to take my car into the dealer to get any work on it so I know there can't be an issue with them flashing my computer. If anyone has any idea of whats going on please reply.

Have an adapter for the radio? some adapters have been known to cause electrical problems. All you'd have to do is unplug that.
Nope no adapter, all my mods are in my sig.
Two possibilities I can think of. The water coming in to the car around the fuse box on the passenger side has caused some really screwy things to happen with electricals. And maybe you have a fuse blown or some kind of short in your dash wiring.
I was thinking maybe a fuse as well, I've only ever had the cover off once. Any idea why my XCAL2 wont power up?
I would think that the XCal has no internal power it would get power when plugged into the port under the steering wheel or when pugged into the usb on a computer. If the fuse has failed to the dash, perhaps the same fuse provides power to that port located under the dash?
I'm just guessing here until someone who really knows sees this thread and answers it for you. |
The only thing that seems to be functioning on the dash is the radio the light for the airbag near the tranction control switch as well as the airbag light in the gauge cluster.
I just don't know. Surely someone around here knows what this could be.

Thanks Shaun for seconding my opinion. Its nice to know I've learned a little something from TMS and you guys that know over the past few months.
Thanks guys, I hope thats the issue. I'm off tomorrow so I'll check the fuses when I wake up.
I also noticed my traction control button doesnt work, neither does my signals, I really hope this is just a fuse :(
I'm an idiot and just found this http://forums.bradbarnett.net/showthread.php?t=464696 I hope this solves my problem
Best of luck! I really hope thats all it is.
So was it #8 in the passenger footwell fusebox? Let us know.
Ya it was the number 8 fuse for the data link, I'm glad it wasn't more. I love the fact the car feels like it has a bit more pep after disconnecting the battery for a bit. Thanks for everyones help. I hope no one else runs into this problems as well.
