on initial test drive the car went into limp mode as soon as I got on the car!!
Install went fine, program went fine, driving was fine until I got on the car then after I romped on it in 2nd the little wrench light came on! Please help.... |
Correct gas for the tune?
|
put 91 octane in the other day.
|
Was your tank completely empty of 87, or is the tank a 91/87 mix? Before I put my JLT2 and upload my Bamatune I ran nearly dry my 87 tank, then threw in half a tank of 91 and am running this nearly dry just to be on the safe side.
If I were you, I'd try reloading the tune and trying again, if that doesn't work switch down to an 87 tune until you are finished with this tank of gas. |
would this really cause the car to go into this state?
I mean I can not even give it gas, because it is barely idling! |
so just go reload the tune? Will this take care of the problem?
|
Depends on how senstive the tune is I guess. You have nothing to lose reloading the tune, if that doesn't work, I'd just give the guy who you got the tune from a call and relay the situation.
|
cleared DTC's whatever those were, after installing the tune again with no change in car!
Car will now idle but had the codes p2104,p2122. |
can't go out for another test drive because the wife went to airport and kids are sleeping.
Car is idling funny and smells very rich, the garage is full of fumes. |
Throttle Actuator Control System - Forced Idle is p2104, don't know what p2122 is. Did you unhook the battery cable prior to reset, that might be something else to try.
|
p2122 is throttle position sensor.
|
did not unhook battery.
The mass air sensor is rotated a little more to the lower side of the tube, so could this be a problem? |
Well, my 2cents.
I did not unhook my battery, but I did run it almost dry with the 87 I had in it and then filled it up with 93, ran it to 1/2 tank and then refilled again. No problems. Jay at JLT says that going to a higher tune, the mixture of the fuel octane is important. Go back to the 87 tune. First unplug the battery, then retune and tell us whats up. |
It's probably not your gas. When I installed my JLT/SCT2 combo we immediately dynoed it with 87 octane in the tank. Unfortunately my tuner had mistakenly loaded the 93 tune. We made one pull before realizing the error. We datalogged and got no evidence of pinging from the many knock sensors. After swapping the 87 for 93 we made another series of pulls and I ended up making only 1 HP more using higher octane with the same tune. Don't know why. :dunno: Whatever, it runs great - on 93 of course. :-D
I would make sure the MAF sensor is seated properly. If that isn't it maybe Jay can help. |

I don't think it would be the gas. A different octane would only cause pinging.
|
Who did you buy the combo from? Call them, explain your situation and then take their suggestions, your tuner should be more than capable of getting you through this.
|
spoke with Brent, sounds like something minor.
I appreciate all of you that have helped. Off to work, so I will let you guys know later. |
It is the tune .
I had the the same issue till i got a diffrent tune . it sucks ! |
check all your connections to the CAI - after I installed my TBS, I FORGOT to clip back in one of the three black plastic electrical clips (MAF being one). The car started - immediately went into safe mode, then died on me. I was about to panic, popped the hood to take a look, and went DUH.
Car was fine after that. Just unhook them all and reclip in and see..... |
