I never got revved on in my late model Honda Prelude even though it had a big nasty fart can, but now that I've got my GT Stang, I've been (obnoxiously) revved on by:
multiple Corvettes,
an M3,
a bright yellow Ferrari (dunno what model),
a couple of NSX's,
other Mustangs :D,
and a Z28 Camaro with offroad pipes

I usually just smile and cruise along...I know when I'm out classed. But the Z28 really bugged me. Maybe it was because the offroad pipe was so obnoxious, it was like a slap in the face. How fast are those cars anyways? Can a stock GT even compete?

Ugh, I'm going to get bit by the modding bug. K&N CAI, 3.90 gears, custom dyno tune. With those mods, what *won't* I be embarrassed going up against?

Fight back . . . get some SLP Loudmouths :-D

Well, I can't really comment on what cars you can beat that much. The only car I've really gone up against from a stop is my friend's 350z. He beat me by a car length up to about 80mph, but I had only been driving manual for 1 week.

As far as CAI/tune, I think you'd get better gains from one of the other brands instead of K&N. Check out the GT performance section, there's a lot of good info on what people have gone with and what kind of gains they have gotten.

I went with the K&N because it doesn't require a tune. I'm actually still debating on whether I want to go the tune route or not...I fear warranty work being denied.

I would have gone with the S&B, but there is zero feedback in the performance section.

Doh, I think this post should have gone in the performance section.

Yeah, I will probably be getting the K&N also because of warranty fears, but since you mentioned that you were thinking about a tune, you can get better gains with another intake.

Don't worry about the section that the post is in, I'm sure John will move it in about 30 seconds. :P

I've started looking at the Steeda CAI and a SCT 2. This CAI looks easy to swap out on the way to get work done on the car, and then just put back the stock tune. The factory tube going to the throttle body does not look that restrictive.

Right, but there are two concerns...
1) I don't have the money to get the tune at the same time as the intake...and I want my intake NOW...:D
2) I heard the dealer can detect if you've *ever* had a tune, even if it is flashed back to stock at the time. There is like a "history" in the ECU.

You heard wrong. They can't according to my service advisor. Yes there is a "history" somewhere in the memory, but they have no way of accessing it....yet.

How can there be a history without them accessing it? :dunno:

Because dealerships don't employ computer geeks, they employ service technicians that use tools and applications to access that data.

They don't have the tools to do it.....yet.

I think I read a post by Doug at Bama Chips about the MRT cold air intake making very good gains and it doesn't require a tune. This is a good place to start, but from what I understand, practicing your driving skills is the most effective way to be successful at the stoplight drags. :-D
