FRPP Exhaust install (M-5230-5GT's) with vs. Stock Photos
Hi all,
I ordered the FRPP M-5230-5GT's from John Bleakly Ford back in February, best price I could find ($330US + $37Shipping). I had them shipped to a UPS Store in Niagara FallsNY, where I drove across the border to pick them up, saving the brokerage fee and the normally high rate shipping UPS charges Canadians.
On Saturday this past weekend I finally got a chance to install them. The instructions are lacking a bit of information. Lucky for TMS, the loosening of the mid-pipe is highly recommended. I also found a gear-wrench very handy as well.
I positioned the muffler clamp so the location of the bolt in the muffler clamp was over the little nib on the stock exhaust (pushed up against the nib not over it). If I didn’t do this the exhaust just slipped off! I had the thing cranked down so much I thought I was going to snap the bolt, until I figured out the correct location of the muffler clamp.
My brother also made very high quality sound recordings with his Mini-Disc recorder, those will be posted in the coming days. (It sounds like my car is running inside my house; I have yet to hear sound clips of this quality).
If you can not see the photos, it's because I'm running my Web Server on a non-standard port 30923.
Here’s some photos:
Backed up on home-made 2x10 ramps:
Here you can see the Drivers side Stock GT muffler vs the FRPP muffler:
Here you can see the Passenger side Stock GT muffler vs the FRPP muffler:
Rear-end shot with mufflers removed:
I know these are called Axle-Back mufflers, but I couldn't resist. Here's a photo vs a Real Cat's Back
Under the car shot with the Passenger side FRPP muffler mounted:
Comparison of stock GT muffler tip vs FRPP one:
Stock GT muffler on weigh scale 15.5lbs:
FRPP muffler on weigh scale 7.5lbs:
Rear-end shot with mufflers installed:
Side view with FRPP mufflers installed:
The mufflers sound amazing , I went on the highway and shifted into 5th, the drone wasn't bad Boomer suggested I try accelerating from 90km/h to 115km/h in 5th to really hear the drone
Thanks,

They definately sound nice don't they. As for drone, I only hear it when I turn the radio down.

I have the same mufflers (for almost a year now!) and there is a drone. What I did to get rid of it was to dynamat the trunk and install a 12" sub.
The dynamat will take care of the drone, or at the very least, make it almost imperceptible.
