Fastest CAI/Tune Only Car

Who has the fastest CAI/Tune Only S197 GT?
The following cars are otherwise 100% stock including tires (Pirellis).

American Speed 12.877 @ 106.79
Gene K 12.973 @ 107.09

Any other CAI/Tune Only cars in the 12's check in.
Trying to see where the bar stands.

Like I said on another forum....post your timeslip or video of this. I have yet to see one in the 12s with a tune/CAI on stock tires....even in perfect conditions. Bot calling BS...but just would like to see proof of this. Took a professional driver for I believe MM&FF and numourous mods and weight reduction (ie:driveshaft, wheels, radiator support etc) to pull a 12 sec run.

For example I am running 12.7-12.8 at about 107mph with all of the mods in my sig I was also running on BFG 275/40/17 Drag Radials cutting a 1.81 60ft...which is pretty consistant to what all others are running. I have a buddy running a 12.61 with similar mods as me and he is also on BFG DRs and is powershifting the whole way down.

Just a little hard to believe sorry. With as fast as times as your running, just some gears Underdrive Pulleys and some Drag radials and your running 11s. (catch my drift). But if you are running those numbers God Bless you and keep that factory freak!

I understand your disbelief.
It is very possible this new guy has made an under 13 run.
I don't run at the track but, I have an accelerometer and have run some dynos for true HP.
He did not say what the air temperature was on the run.
I have hit 298 RWHP on a Dynojet with the air temp. in the garage @ 52F.(even colder outside)
I really cold weather my accelerometer has shown 1/4 mile times of 12.9 to 12.77 (never shifting into 4th and minimal tire spin).
Warm weather I have never broken 13.3.
This may explain another variable to track times.

I completely understand your thought process on this. but to test your theory...these cars have been out in 2005 2006 2007 and now 2008 each year Im sure someone has run the car during the late fall with temperatures mineshaft cold... I still havent seen this on video or heard of it...maybe I need to get out more But I would think that if this guy really did it with merely a tune and CAI then someone else in 05 or 06 or 07 or now 08 would have done it as well. Not saying your incorrect or your accelerometer is incorrect.... I only trust track times not tools to measure acceleration ya know?

Still if this guy has done it...its a rare car.

Heck I ran my car as it sits with the BFGs in 50 deg weather with a well prepped track (last day of the season to run at www.tulsaracewaypark.com weather was great, DA was great, Track was prepped well.... I ran a 12.79 @ 106.75 and my buddy ran a 12.61 @ 108mph (he has similar mods as I) Now I know my time can be a little faster with a better 60ft 1.81 on that run BUT man with a 2.0 60ft that this guy ran I dont know how he picked up that much on the top end.....just a little crazy if you ask me. But again I could be wrong....I guess I need to see something to believe it

Here's one I found that was 13.085 with just a JLT 1 and Diablo tune on a night that was about 60F.
With a little luck and lower temp air, I maybe he could break 13.

Yes Karman good find...but this guy ran on Drag Radials... you can tell with his 60ft...1.8 ...there is no way he ran a 1.8 on stock tires. the difference in a 13.0 and a 13.4 is 2 tenths of a second on the 60ft...give this guy a set of stock perellis and hes at a 13.4-13.5...thats about what I ran with a tune/CAI and Xpipe. On my stocker tires I could only manage a 1.99-2.00 (best) and that was with a very well prepped track with little to no spin. To get that 1.80 60ft, I launch around 4300rpms with my Drag Radials and it launches hard...I know shes got a 1.7 60ft in her but I havent found it yet hehe, but for this guy above to run 1.8 on his stock tires..he must have put some massive stickem (like on baseball gloves) and a small prayer to get that time hehe... OR just be an extremely...and I mean extremely good driver and slipped that clutch to the point of failure.

So Im going to rule this guy a poser on the link above.... again I could be wrong...I dont pretend to know all hehe BUT I value honesty

He claims stock tires, but 1.8 does seems a little hard to believe.

I believe! I believe!

Ok... Not sure if I believe or not. But if someone needs an ego boost or a pat on the butt and this is how he goes about it... well then ok. It doesn't really effect me.

Actually the initial poster of this thread claims a 2.0137 on stock tires which I can believe.... but makes the 12.9 even more unrealistic IMO.

This is a stock tire run under @1.97.
He runs a 13.22 but with a stock auto.

"The car had only the most basic of mods at the time, and ran a good time for what was on there. Everything was on the car still, just as if it was picked up from the dealer."

I dont believe anything on Dragtimes.com.... I guess thats just the pessimist in me... I need to see it to believe it (and even seeing it on video wont convince me...they could have more done to it than stated but cant be seen in the video) I guess I need the be there and watch it touch it look at it and smell it hehe.... People will make up anything in the internet to put themselves above the rest.

Id love for a vendor or tuner to chime in with real world HONEST data...now that would carry more weight in my book then some average joe claiming some numbers on the web..ya know??

Well I have to say that I drive pretty Dam well and I couldn't get close to the 12 second zone on the stock tires. With CAI and tune and stock tires best I could muster was like 13.5.........Drag radials were worth an honest 4 tenths reduction in ET. If someone really did do this they are a better driver than I am and congrats are in order.

It was a -658' DA and trapping 107+ mph.

My best 60' is 1.958... I just havnt been able to put a good run and good 60' together.
I blew a 1.962 60' (missed 2nd) with 300' Better air that would have been a 12.85 the day I ran the 12.97...

You can run a 12.1 @ 107 mph on a 1.6x 60'. With a fully scienced out car on drag slicks. Check the NHRA Stock Elimintor Records if you dont believe me. Considering Im 8/10 of a second off a perfect pass, I dont see whats so hard to believe.

As to the other car he has multiple witnesses including Justin form VMP tuning who confirmed stock tires and no N2O (He searched for a hidden system) . Of course he could have gears. He has the handicap of living in FL otherwise I he would have been in the 12.6's by now with his ability to 60' the stock tires.

PS There are several people who have cut 1.79's on stock Pirellis on well prepped tracks with gears. Depends on the quality of the prep. Pirellis also dont like heat. Pretty common for All-Seasons. You have to know just how much to heat them according to ambient temp. If its a 80F+ day with sun (Track Temp 100F+) they are already to hot.

1. AID - Showroom Stock, 3700 lb (280 lb Driver), Stock Pirellis
2. MMP - CAI/Tune, 3700 lb (280 lb Driver), Stock Pirellis
