I am going to be putting Motive 4.30 gears in this weekend with my mechanic friend.... and I was wondering what kind of rear diff oil I need... He said it should say on it if its synthetic or not, but I was wondering what is in there stock and what should I use.
Thanks.
Thanks.

You can use 3 pints if you want to short your differential and possibly burn something up.
The rear end found in the v6 equiped Mustang uses 3.2 pints
Your GT will need 4.2 pints. I went through about 2.5 quarts (5 pints) cause I didnt have a pump and I made a mess all over myself and the street.
Buy a fluid pump and save time and clean up.

Amsoil synthetic 75w140 in mine, I recommend the same.
You have to use a synthetic regardless of brand.

And don't short fill your rear end. My Nissan Titan came from the factory short about a quart of axle oil. Rear end got so hot it melted all the paint off. Drained and filled it with Amsoil, never got hot again.

I use the Amsoil 75W140 gear lube also. However I didn't add any friction modifier to mine. It was not necessary in my case. I would try it without the friction modifier first. If you get any chattering in the rearend during low speed turns I would add half a bottle of Amsoil friction modifier to see if it stops the chattering. If not add the rest of the bottle. Adding too much friction modifier can cause the clutch packs to slip too much.

Redline Synthetic 75-140 differential oil, has the friction modifier already in it. Have used it in several vehicles, no problems.
It may cost a little more than Amsoil, but seems to perform better.
Redline also has a "heavy" shock proof oil for "hard" applications. aka racing.
check at www.redlineoil.com for product info and closest dealer.

Redline seems to be better how, have you used both oils in the same rearend?
Are you a lab technician of sorts?
Do you know what you are even posting?
I doesnt seem so by your choice of words....

mobil 1 I say from major retailers.
Where abouts in California are you? There are 2 dealers within 10 miles of my place (South of San Francisco).
Open that phone book of yours and call around to a few speed shops.

I am just north of santa barbara.... I tried calling a few, and none carry it. I am willing to drive.... I have all day tomorrow, so I could go as far south as ventura or as far north as paso robles.... thats about at 200 miles stretch of California with me in the middle. I wish i knew earlier that I had to get it online.... but there MUST be a place close by.
Should I just get the Mobil 1? How much better is this amsoil? is it worth it? is this the Mobil 1 i should get? http://www.mobil1.com/USA-English/MotorOil..._75W-140LS.aspx
