Has anyone else had the check engine light come on? Was driving home from work, stopped at a light the thing just came on. Car isn't running any differently, has just over 2100 miles on it. Taking it to the shop in the morning was just wondering what I should be watching out for. Thanks.

Already checked that...on good. Checked everything else I could get my hands on under the hood(thinking was a loose connector).

Anybody else have a clue? :bang:

There is a TSB {Technical Service Bulletin on a MIL {Malfunction Indicator Lamp} on with no Driveabilty concerns! It Requires a Computer Reflash! This is a Quite New TSB! Saw it today on the FORD website!

If you have the sct tune and they reflash the computer...how does that work?

I would assume you would need to go back to Stock Tune and if you Still have An MIL lamp on Get it reflashed and then reinstall your tune! I could be wrong but I believe that is the point of retaining your stock tune in the SCT Memory!

Not really worried about them seeing the tune. Just didn't no if it would reset it or what?

Mine came on at 2800. Checked the gas cap, took it to the dealer, reset the light, that was it. Nothing seems to be wrong with the car.

P.S. - watch out for dealers that claim their diagnostic equipment doesn't work, keep your car for two days, and you get it back with 15 miles on it.

I know, I already had my spat with the service dept. foreman. Maybe it was necessary, but it still ticked me off.

Mine came on at 700 miles and the dealer downloaded a new computer patch and it cured the problem. There is a service bulletin on this and I have the number if you need it. It only takes the dealer about 30 minutes total to fix it. It was labeled a misfire on decel and ford has the fix.

Try using the message center, I know there is a way where you can make it run a diagnostic on a lot of the systems on the car, it might tell you there.

I tried that on mine when the light was on and it didn't find anything wrong. Only the dealer could read the default code with a code reader.

No, not using sarcasm. The message center actually can run a diagnostic on your car, I am sure its not all enclusive. Just a thought.

This is kind of related, but the C5 Corvette's DIC will display all the trouble codes from its various control modules. I'd hope the Mustang's system will allow this too. This is really a great tool, but you do have to look up what the codes mean, and the instructions aren't in the owner's manual.

I had my check engine light come on around 1700 miles. Took it to dealer and they said the connection to the #1 coil was loose. They fixed it and it hasn't come on again.

Does anyone have a link to where you can find technical service bullitens (TSB)s. I tired looking on the ford and myford pages but couldnt find it.
Thanks

Go to the ford web site and in the search box type in TSB.

I had the same thing at 500 miles. They said my gas tank vent was clogged and replaced my gas tank.

It came on again at about 1000 miles. They said it was a vent in the evaporative emissions system. They are going to replace it next Wednesday.

I am going to suggest they also reflash the chip.
