C&L Racer CAI / Tillmanspeed Tunes

Just thought I'd share my experience with my Tillmanspeed / CR. I talked to CR on the phone this past Friday and ordered their SCT XCal2 and C&L package and had it Monday. As soon as UPS dropped it off I reviewed TacoBills hotlinks and grabbed a few tools.

Installation

Installation was too easy, I didn’t time myself but I probably had everything done in 30 minutes. I didn't like the fact that the shield is secured in the front by zip tying it to the brake lines. But it does the job. I loaded the 93 octane race tune as I was on my second tank of 93 octane and I was ready to go.

Impressions

Throttle response has improved. It feels like a different car, even my exhaust is louder. It pulled hard when I floored it but once I hit 3500 rpm it seemed to pull even harder.

I have been able to chirp the tires in third gear after I installed the MGW shifter but now the tires break a little more on the shift.

I wanted to get it on a Dyno so I'd have some numbers to report but the shop I was going to use is closed this week. I will get it dynoed eventually. My fuel mileage has dropped but that has to be due to how I've been driving lately.

So to sum it, the C&L Racer fits good, looks cool and Tillmanspeeds customer service was great. The car is much stronger and more responsive, definitely worth it.

Thanks, CR

You have to go and make my decision harder....still trying to choose between Bama, Brenspeed, and Tillman.....for the SCT II/Tuner combo with JLTII CAI.....

Wow great guys! I'm glad you're happy with your purchases!!

No we don't do Diablosport tuning, I reccommend Doug from Bamachips for that.

However, I'd gladly put together an XCal2 package for you!

Thanks again fellas, for the kind words and let us know if there's anything we can do to be even better in the future!!

Good to hear Tillman's tunes are so effective! I've been really pleased w/ my BrenSpeed tune for my C&L racer CAI (bought before CR was a sponsor here), but I've added a few things and need a new tune, which CR needs to send soon!!

That thing is huge! Makes my K&N CAI look tiny.

I might have to step up to this set-up one of these days.

I didn't have any good reason to open the hood until I got the CAI in there. The engine bay is much cleaner these days. It's a daily driver too, so it's gonna get dirty.

Ya I am kinda confused... I did not receive a USB cord with my C&L and SCT from Doug.... are they supposed to come with the USB cords for connecting the SCT to the computer?
