I have installed the new C&L/DiabloSport intake system on my car and took it to the drag strip last night to see the actual difference it made. I learned two things: 1.) The new intake system is well worth the money and 2.) 169stang is one heck of a driver.
The baseline I’m comparing to is my previous best 60 ft, best 330 ft, best 1/8 ET, best ¼ ET and my previous best MPH, with control arms, hydro-carbon trap removed and 18 inch BFG Drag Radials. Modified is with the addition of the C&L/DiabloSport Predator with revised tuned program. Best numbers do not necessarily come for the same run. The time of day ( 6:30 to 7:30 pm), temperature (low 60’s) and barometric pressure (30.05) was the same. Baseline: 60 ft: 1.911, 330 ft: 5.583, 1/8 ET: 8.655, ET: 13.540, MPH 100.18 Modified: 60 ft: 1.969, 330 ft: 5.623, 1/8 ET: 8.633, ET: 13.384, MPH 104.52 As you can see, I was actually slower off the line but gained big time at the high end. I attribute the slower 330 to my inability to properly modulate the clutch coming off the line. The car has significantly more mid-range torque and I was spinning the drag radials much more than a good driver would have done. The fact that 169stang is getting better 60 times with stock tires than I am getting with drag radials says that he is either one heck of a good driver or I am older than what I thought :dunno: The 4+ mph gain in trap speed is the best indicator of the true effect of the C&L/DiabloSport intake kit. Anyway you analyze it, that equates to a significant increase in rear-wheel, real-world horsepower especially when you consider that I already had the hydro-carbon trap removed for the baseline numbers. I have no vested interest in either C&L or Diablosport, and I paid full retail price. I tried to present a true apples-to-apples comparison of the effect of adding their kit. Does this prove that it is the best kit? Absolutely not! Do I believe it is the best kit? I have no idea. What it does prove to me is that the kit delivers as advertised and I have no intention on asking for my money back. I think this backs up my statement from a previous post. Diablo with the CAI bundled together = performance. Diablo alone = hit or miss.
Great times and if you care to I'm sure you'll have tenths shaved off that in no time. Did you wear a helmet and if so what kind? I need to get one... chris |
Ran my car on a dyno today. The kind of dyno that has your rear wheels removed and attatched to your hubs. Supposed to be more accurate. :dunno:
My car only has the C&L CAI and the C&L 93 Octane Tune. 275 RWHP 281 RWT at a 15 % powertrain loss it is a gain of 20 HP at a 20 % powertrain loss it is a gain of 35 HP What is the standard powertrain loss off of the motor? Went on the highway today, mid day, to race it a bit. Love my acceration at higher speeds! :nice: Dynojet numbers are different, see below. |

Horseowner,
First, welcome to the forum! And second, I think you're going to love the C&L/Predator combo :nice: The Boss Hog |
Boss Hog, great numbers. I'm really curious as to which combo is "better." Of course I jumped on the SCT/Steeda setup, due to being available earlier. Impatience I suppose. I guess Older guys do have more patience.
I'll be heading out to the track today to see what I can do with some stickys. Tomorrow, I'll be going over to Bradenton for the Spring Nationals. |
:nice: Good numbers, Boss Hog. Thanks, for the numbers, I love numbers... :geek:

Do your slips post your reaction time to the green light? My brother in law tests his bikes at ATCO in So. Jersey and the slips show RT. Any #s?
|
RT has no bearing on the ET.
|
|
I just assumed, sorry. Most guys don't care too much about RT when we are still learning.
