Benefit of MGW Shifter?

Besides giving shorter throws and not missing 3rd gear is there any other benefit of the shifter? I notice that my shifter isn't so smooth shifting into first gear. Would the MGW shifter make shifting into every gear smoother or should I just take the car into the dealership?

I don't know why it wouldn't be shifting smooth into 1st, but if it's stock and you're having a problem, I'd have the dealer check it out before you start 'messing' with it and then they blame you for the problem.

I have had an MGW shifter for the past 7 months and it is an excellent piece of equipment, which can not only adjust the length of the shifts but the shift **** can be adjusted up or down and right and left. I would not look at this shifter to ease your difficulty of getting into first. I agree that you should approach your dealership about this.

I'd go to mgw. I dunno about easier into 1st but it's not like you ever need to powershift to first anyway. Besides for how much smoother powershifting is plus the huge adjustability in height, angle and throw makes the mgw more than worth it anyway.

MGW on the setting I have(7 turns) is notchier. But the shifts are so positive and so perfect. Its a worthy trade-off.

The MGW doesn't make it smoother over stock, it makes it notchier as said above. It's really not a bad thing though, I haven't missed a gear yet with it.

Also, if you are having problems with the stock shifter and aren't sure if you want to go aftermarket yet, make sure that all the bolts are tight on the stock shifter.
I had the Steeda triax and it was hard to get into gear. It turned out that the bolt attaching the shifter to the trans was really, really loose. I tighted it up and the shifter was fine. The problem was that I already had the MGW sitting in the garage. There, I publicly admitted that I bought a new shifter when all I really need to do was tighten a bolt. Yes, I'm retarded.
