Would I win?
Would I win?
hey guys... i need to ping all your collective mustang knowledge cause a guy i work with is talking mad trash..
he has a charger rt... all stock.
he always talks crap that he will walk all over my stang, but i seriously doubt it.
after looking at all the mods on here and what people are running and what they have done, my car should be capable of running a 13 or better...
im not the best driver but ill give it a shot.
i told him that my car should break 13 and him and the guys at work all told me I was wrong!
MODS: JLT CAI, Brenspeed tunes, bbk LT's with catted x pipe, Pypes MM's, LCA's, Hurst shifter....
guys with similar mods are putting down over 300 hp at the wheels...
no one at work seems to think that with 300 hp in my car i can break 13....
all we have is a 1/8 mile track nearby, but i should still be able to whomp on his butt if we go to it.
i am gonna avoid street racing him cause the street is just not the place for it.

I always wondered why people put the word "discuss" at the end of a post. Is it some kind of order? Or did you expect us to do something besides post on the topic?
Anyway, even a stock GT will beat a stock Charger R/T. They are heavy, and over rated. I raced one with a CAI and tune, and he was stock, and walked him easily, 4 or 5 car lenghts in by the time I got halfway through 3rd gear. Easy day. No, I don't have his timeslips.
You will need som drag radials or slicks to get 12.99 or better. Not saying it's not possible with your car and mods, but you will have to have a very sticky track and an excellent driver. With some slicks and 4.10s, you would be in there for sure. But with your mods, you could be able to run a 13.2 on stock rubber. Just a hunch.
Best of luck, but you won't need it beating an R/T. Gettting into the 12's will probably need at least some tires.

I think you should win...
lol......Ralph Macchios a mess. And yea you should be able to take. I honestly haven't seen any challengers near me, but everyone else seems to think its no problem. But to break 13's, I'd have to agree with the other dude who was talkin about getting different tires.
i watched a few races stock mustang gt vs dodge charger rt and the mustangs won
i watched a daytona rt vs mustang gt it kept up with the mustang but it still beat the dodge.
so yea you can easly take him

You will take him easily. My best friend traded his stock GT for a Charger RT, and he regrets it. He thought because it had a Hemi it would be faster...wrong!
On a friday night he ran a 13.98 in his bone stock GT, and he hadn't had much seat time. Traded it in on Saturday, and the following Friday could only muster a 14.41 and 6 mph less in the Charger RT. They are too heavy.
Tell him you won't waste your gas on him. That'll get him boiling.

You should beat him. You have the power to weight advantage and provided you drive it well, you have the faster car.
I own a 06 Magnum R/T. It's no slouch, and for a roomy, affordable, family car it's terrific. It's not a Mustang killer in stock form though.
Caveot: Watch out for the 09 hemis. They are revised and making about 25-30hp more and will be quicker than the 340hp versions like your friends.
