Subaru BRZ vs 370z
So.. Lets play this out...
Your 23 year old wife wants a sports car...
She's narrowed down the looks (because apparently that's all that matters) to either a new Subaru BRZ and new red 370z.
They're both automatic and they're both loaded!
The Z has the track and touring package.
370z would be used, and the BRZ probably new. So... we're talking around $33k for a 370z and below $30k for a BRZ...
And for this situation, you already own a Boss 302.
Which do you buy for her and why?

I have driven both....and both are alot of fun. If i was buying for myself i would say the brz.....but if i was buying for a girlfriend or wife i would go for the 370z. The z is nicer as interior goes....and is quite quicker. But i loved the brz because of how tail happy it was and how well you could control it when it was tail happy lol. In the wrong hands it could get scary....especially on damp services. Both are great cars.

You see my dilemma. lol Luckily It'll be a while before we go seriously looking. Just doing some research now. Since Nissan wont wise up and make a 370 TT, I know I'll be buying the top one there... However! I know Subaru will throw in a Sti version. And even though this wont be my toy car... I still am going to be wanting more power! lol I'm leaning 370z since she may start wanting the convertible.

Perhaps it's just me, but why do Nissans always look to me as if they were designed by a kid who was taking a break from drawing comic books about outer space?
Why not his and hers Mustangs?

I wish I could get her in a Mustang! She doesn't like "Bulky & Manly" looking cars. So, that'll never happen. I really wanted to get her a used Red Camaro SS vert or a SRT8 or R/T Classic... That would be an awesome looking garage. Plus... make for some fun last signal races home...

Go with the brz, I actually would prefer a 350z over a 370, meh. With the 370 you get none of the v8 power and all of the v8 mpg. The brz should have plenty oomph and get good mpg, though I would talk her into a six speed

What about style?
Granted it's her car, but I would think the 370z would be a "nicer" car even if they're both completely equipped.

just because you can toss the BRZ around more, and if your wifey isn't used to a ton of power, it's a lot more forgiving to tool around in.

I've driven a 370z and raced a couple... but have no experience with the BRZ.
So... I think here in a month, I'll get the girl to really drive them both.
Thanks guys! I was afraid that it'd be an obvious choice to other car guys... but its nice knowing both have equal backing here. May end up becoming a whichever makes more sense at the time. OR! The test drive will really show why the BRZ/FRS is one of the best "driver's" cars.
