I was rolling down a local boulevard yesterday evening, when I notice a black RX8 rolling up in the lane to my right. I could see the guys in my mirror checking my car out, and I had a feeling they might want to play. Traffic was kinda heavy, so we played cat and mouse for a little while, until we both made an upcoming right turn and we both ended up side by side at the next stoplight. It's on! I could hear them reving the rotary engine (sounded wimpy). Bam! Green light! I drop the clutch and for maybe a moment we're side by side. Then I started to quickly pull away. I could hear the whine of the high-reving rotary behind me. Once I'm several car lengths away, I figure I've proven my point and hit the brakes. They pull up next and the driver says, "Hey, that's pretty quick!". I'm like, "thanks, 0-60 in just over 5s". Anyhow, it was nice to encounter a "gracious" loser. I was looking at the RX8s when I was car shopping. I think I made the right choice! =)

Great kill. Great story.
He didn't want to go 2 out of 3? I'll say it before anyone else. You do know that speeding is dangerous? |

Originally posted by ponyboy66@June 23, 2005, 11:41 AM You do know that speeding is dangerous? Speeding is driving faster than a made up number by your local politicians. Once you cross this magical number, you do not suddenly turn into a dangerous driver. I personally believe there is a difference between speeding and reckless driving. Often times a reckless driver is speeding, but a speeding driver is not necessarily reckless. In fact, NTSB’s own studies have shown that the best way to set is speed limits is for the 85th percentile for most roads, and 95th for highways and freeways. (They were trying to disprove other studies, and ended up confirming the data) Their data has shown that the drivers who drive at these speeds are statistically the least likely to be involved in an accident. You might be surprised to learn, that on most divided highways, this can be around 85 miles per hour. However, politicians artificially lower this, as most of America still believes in the speed kills mantra. Of course there are exceptions to every rule, such as school, residential, and construction zones, where the limit should be artificially lowered, however, the point I am trying to make, is that science should set speed limits, and not politicians. Sorry for the rant. Back on topic..... Good kill. |
He would of caught you if he did not have that grass catching bag attached to the side of his car. :-D

Lawn catching bags usually go on lawn mowers....
hint hint :) |
Well now, the "wimpy" Renesis rotary in that Black RX8 was owned by FoMoCo before it was sold. I dont like to think of stuff like this as "kills", but nice job, anyway. RX8s are bad, anyway, I want one after I get a 69 Boss 302 :nice: .

Lawnmower... He's calling the RX8 a lawnmower :)
Edit: I love dial-up :D ... I feel like I'm driving an RX8 trying to catch one of those new 05 GTs now |

No big deal really, the RX8 has a 1.3 (yes, One Point Three) liter engine...and it is a four door after all :-)

Two of those doors are small suicide doors. You need a shoehorn to get a 6 foot frame into the drivers seat. And you have to drive with the windows up or you have to eat lots of flying grass clippings. (unless you have that bag attachment.) :-D

that's nice to hear cause my friend doesn't like mustangs (I don't really know why, but you all know the type) but last summer he was working at a golf course and they had a tournament sponsered by mazda. His friend knows the owner of the mazda dealership and agreed to let them take the RX8 that was on display out for I think 4 nights in a row. well my friend knew how to drive a manual and his friend didn't so my friend ended up driving it pretty hard all four nights. Ever since then he's thought RX8's were great, so i'll see what he says when I tell him the mustang is faster.

Nice!!!
RX8s are pretty clean in my book. I love the interior. I haven't had to many challengers. Anyone else find it hard to find someone to "toy around" with. I did get my hiney handed to me by a Z28 with chip, headers, and intake. |
238 HP with 2 rotor 1.3 liters is pretty good. Would that be 357 HP with a third rotor
