(NOTE: i've added the upped ponies on the GT and V6 models rumored in the "the 07 cobra is already alive' post in the rumor mill)
MUSTANG V6
251 hp 271 tq
Camaro V6
250 hp 270 tq
Mustang GT
320 hp 370 TQ
Camaro Z28
350 hp 393 tq
Mustang SE (Mach, Boss, etc.)
390 hp 430 tq
Camaro Z28
350 hp 393 tq
and now, the top-model drag out fight
2007 SVT Cobra - 480 hp, 500+ tq (-cough-underrated-coughcoughcough-)
2007 Camaro SS - 500 hp, 490 tq

Don't forget the new GTO rumored to come out in '07 and the Charger.
I also think most of your numbers are pretty high (especially the 390/430 SE), except maybe the Cobra/Z28. I do expect high 4's or even 5's from them. The Mustang lineup as I see it in two years is something like:
hp/tq
V6: 235/250
GT: 320/340
SE: 350/390
Cobra: 475/520 (rated)
I also expect to see the Vette engines in all the next GTOs. But, who knows at this point? It is all a wild guess at this point.

my thing was copying the current GTO with the camaro
and, personally, i expect the SE to be an almost duplicate of last years Cobra, if not a tuned-up version of the 2001, also, i am almost enclined to see the Cobra put out over 500, off paper, of course
so, how will this war go? only time will tell....

JUNK, The camaros and vettes and GTOs are all wicked heavy and overpriced. I hope they never come out and the GTO gos home.

Now if your talking the eighties and early ninties... yup I couldn't agree with you more.
GM can get stupid and build another ultimate performance F-body and sacrifice alot to put the LS2 in there along with fat tires and aggressive Rocky styling and try to come in at a reasonable price or they can take it in stages like the stang.
a nice 4 car line up would be nice for each
Base car......V6/200 to 250hp....20 to 25k depending on level of equipment
Base V8 car.....V8 300 to 320hp..... 25 to 30k
Mid level.....V8 350 to 400hp..... 30 to 35k
Top car......V8+ 450 to 500hp+..... 35 to 40k+

i cant wait for some competition. that way i might get to live in something similiar to the muscle car era of the 60s n 70s, something some of us younger enthusiasts missed out on. plus, i'd rather see a Goat, 'Maro, or 'bird pull up allongside my future stang than a POS Honda or sumthin.
theres no match for a V8 RWD performance vehicle. sorry but i dont think I4 FWD will ever be able to match it. on equal ground that is (ie turbo I4 vs turbo V8)
