68 chevelle vs. 94 mustang
So my chevy friend has been giving me alot of crap about having my mustang. He dosnt have his license or car but he is probaly getting a 68 v8 chevelle, so now we want to race.
His chevelle will be a v8 manual, i don't think any mods or a few small ones. That all I really know about it.
My mustang is a 94 v6 automatic with
Underdrive pulleyes
Throttle body
CAI
Shortie headers
Dual exhaust
4.10 gears
Lim slip differental
A freshly rebuilt 3.8 v6 and tranny
And a 4-bank chip tune to top it off
We want to bring our cars to the 1/4 mile and race. What do you guys think? Who has it?

Don't fear the old 'stock' V-8's. Motor Trend tested (in 1968) a SS 396 with 350 h.p. and it did 0 to 60 in 7.4 seconds and the 1/4 mile in 16 seconds flat at 89 m.p.h. .....

Also, most '68 Chevelles that a kid can still afford do not have stock engines in them. Who knows what it will have in it.
Fear the torque, hope that he screws up the shifting.

My money is on the auto trans, the other dude will burn off the line while the little v6 auto is pulling away.
DON'T RACE ON THE STREET! Find a track.

Thanks guys, I feel alot better, I couldn't live with myself if I lost to my best friend who's a chevy guy in my first race. And I know, I live by chicago so I'm prolly going to go up to great lakes dragaway with him sometime.

It depends on which Chevelle he has.
In 1968, there was a couple Chevelles that produced from 200 to up to 350 HP.
Even with your mods your V6 stock HP is at 150 with the mods maybe about 190hp.
I think IMO the Chevelle would take it down, given from the specs. Could come down to a driver race though.
Take em to the track

You know he's going to blow his own horn because frankly it's an unfair match unless you get lucky and he burns the motor or destroys the trans which would be hilarious and has happened before...with friends. ahem. but anyway...

I would say the mustang. I would start in first and then second and drive. It will help you get up to speed quicker. That is how I did it when I had auto. You already got an upper hand on him bc you know how your car handles. Him starting out with it I don't think he would be able to handle it especially if he isn't used to muscle. Also his car is going to weigh a lot more! Good luck to ya!

Have a few beers with him then have him take you for a ride. Insult his car a few burnouts later he will have a DUI and no license again a mustang on the road will beat the chevelle in the garage any day!

That is a real idiotic thing to say. People's loved ones have died because of drunk driving. Even if you were kidding it's still something to not joke around about.
