5.0 or v6 with procharger supercharger

Given the choice which one would you pick.

2011 Stang 5.0, 3.73 gears, 412 hp or
2011 Stang V6 , 2.73 gears plus procharger super charger, 475 hp.

Paid 29 k for 5.0
Paid 23k for V6 plus 6 k for supercharger = 29k

Being 29 K paid for each car, which one would you take and why. What are the pros and cons to buying the procharger or the 5.0?

Cusp Nov 30, 2011 11:26 PM

If it doesn't have 8, it won't sound great.

slostang Nov 30, 2011 11:31 PM

It take the slower V8 over the V6, the sound of a V8 is beautiful.

2011 Kona Blue Nov 30, 2011 11:33 PM

Okay, good point, what if one added a pair of flowmasters to the sixer. Give it a more aggressive sound. Other than the sound which one would you take.

2011 Kona Blue Nov 30, 2011 11:35 PM

Would the flowmasters help in your opinion

Onelildude Nov 30, 2011 11:44 PM

I'd take the 5.0 because that V8 has a lot more potential than the V6. And even with the procharger the V8 would still have more low end torque. Ohhh and the V8 is still faster in the 1/4 mile

Good info and thought. Thanks.Thanks

I'd get the sixer, just to see peoples bewildered faces when they findout its a six

Yeah the look on ones face when they want to challenge a sixer and find out that's no ordinary sixer. Lol. On the 1/4 mile track of course

No matter what exhaust you put on it, it will still sound like a v6, and you're basically maxed out at that 475hp or in danger of blowing the motor, where as the v8 just got started with bolt ons...

torque, sound, v8.. yea v8.

2011 Kona Blue Dec 1, 2011 08:03 AM

So in your opinion do you think a pro charger super charger would blow the engine up at 475 hp?

stupidgenius36 Dec 1, 2011 09:20 AM

I think 475 out of the V6 would shorten it's life span as well, while the V8 is almost in the same hp range in stock condition. The V6 will never sound like a V8, regardless of what exhaust you put on it. When people see the V6, they'll think: "****, that's fast...but why waste the money? You should've just gotten the V8 in the first place." So obviously, I'd go with the V8.

I'll take a little of both please. A procharger on my 5.0. Thanks

AlsCobra Dec 1, 2011 09:31 AM

You can always buy a 2010 used gt and charge it for even less.

2011 Kona Blue Dec 1, 2011 09:40 AM

Oh I don't think its a waste of money if the 5.0 was important to someone and if its what makes then happy.

stupidgenius36 Dec 1, 2011 12:40 PM

Every way I look at it, the V6 is a waste of money. If that's all you could afford at the time and wanted to add a supercharger later down the road, then that's one thing. But if you can already afford a GT for the same price, then I see no reason not to get it. Unless you just really really wanna be known as that guy with a fast V6.

2011 Kona Blue Dec 1, 2011 02:13 PM

You catch people off guard and hurt egos when they find out the v6 was no ordinary v6. Lol

2011 Kona Blue Dec 1, 2011 02:14 PM

Fast is fast for 4 v6 v8 etc lol

2012BLKV6 Dec 1, 2011 02:17 PM

I'd have the 6 just to be different. But I agree 5.0 would make more sense.

True. But again, that V6 is maxed out and long term durability will be in question. Unless, of course, you wanna tear into it and beef it up. But then we're back to where we started...should've got the GT to begin with.
