2014 Mustang vs 2015 Mazda3 Sport

Hello, I’m new to this forum, and I just had a question. I’m sure this isn’t the best place to get this kind of answer because this forum might be a little biased, but I’m having a dilemma choosing between these 2 cars. I’m about to sell my truck, and I’ve narrowed my new vehicle down to 2 cars. One of them being a 2014 Mustang V6 with 53,000 miles on it for $13,500, and a 2015 Mazda3 i Sport with 28,000 miles on it for $12,750. I know this forum might be a little biased, but I was just wanting some honest opinions about which one would be better for the money. Performance isn’t a huge deal for me, and I just want to know what will last the longest.

Those are two very different cars. As much as I like the Mustang, the much lower miles on the Mazda might steer me that direction.

As SpectreH mentioned, they're very different cars, so it really comes down to what you want. The Mazda 3 compares much more closely to a Focus ST. It'll be more nimble around town, with less HP. The Mustang has more power, but is also bigger.

Also, as mentioned, the Mazda is one model year newer and has almost half the miles. That has to play into your decision. The Mazda is likely still under both bumper to bumper and powertrain factory warranties.

If you dont care about performance not sure why you are considering a mustang? As much flak as v6 mustangs get, the 3.7 does offer some pretty good performance relative to other non v8 powered sports cars. The 2 cars you're looking at just really arent comparable at all, so only you can decide what you value from each of them?

I wouldn't let the mileage on the Mustang scare me off. My 2014 V6 Premium Automatic convertible is closing in on 50K miles and is solid. I've taken her on road trips and run autocross with her and she looks and runs great. Will she make it to 300K miles needing nothing more than a couple of water pumps and an air conditioning compressor like my '88 Honda Accord did? Probably not, but given the mileage I'm putting on her since moving to Texas I'll likely be gone and lost forever before she reaches 100K. I say go for the beauty and surprisingly good performance.

I have a 2014 V6 premium. 56000 miles on it. It’s a real nice car. If you want a 4 door economy car buy the Mazda. If you want something a little more buy the mustang.

My wife has a 2010 GT with the same body style, and I really like it. I've heard of Mazda engine failures at relatively low miles, so I would stay away from Mazda. If I was going to get a foreign car I would get a Toyota. The only issue I've had with the Mustang is a little clunking going over bumps on rough roads and no one can find anything wrong with the car. I would look for that particular issue with your 2014 and other than that the 3.7 version is solid.
