Good read, kinda what i expected since the G8 was also being compared to the SRT8 in other articles.

Nice Porsche in your avatar.:nice:

As I expected. I really like that G8.

I wonder if Dad wants to trade in his 323i.... :jester:

Isn't Charger little too big to be compared to G8?

"No redline on the tach"
So it will rev to 8k rpm?

Slims00ls1z28 3/1/08 09:04 PM

No it bounces off a 6k limiter more than likely.

One minor nit pick here
THE G8 Isn't from detroit you morons (edmunds)
The only thing american on it is the motor and the nose
everything else is Aussie made. If it had been done here that car would be a shadow of it's current self.

as i said a minor nitpick :)

I dunno Burn, I think if GM had to do it in the US they could build a good car, the Corvette is no accident in its awesomeness and that car was engineered right here. IMO it was just more practical to use what was at hand.

Indeed, your not going to see a production 2 valver with an OHV hydraulic roller valvetrain made to last 100k+ miles reving much past 6,000 rpm. Not affordably at least or not without reducing the size of the motor to reduce the strain on the valvetrain.

Look at the Z06, it has arguably the best OHV ever developed for a production automobile and its capped at 7k.

Slims00ls1z28 3/3/08 07:18 AM

Yep. I could see it at 6500 as that is what the LS2 is at but given it is actually the "economy" V8 I don't see it having the same camshaft profile as the LS2. I'd much prefer the heads on the L76 than mine (LS2) the camshaft has to be a huge cork.

Just cause they capped it at 7k doesn't mean it can't do more. If they make the power they were aiming for at less then 7k then it wasn't nessessary to rev higer.
