CAI & Tune from Ford

According to the 2008 Mustang brochure, it states;
Ford Racing offers street-legal performance packs for your Mustang V6, Mustang GT and Shelby GT500 that can be installed by your Ford Dealer.

I'm interested in the Cold Air Kit with larger mass airflow sensor house and Ford Racing performance calibration for my 2007 V6.
Does anyone know when it will be available and how much for the part and install?

It's already there. Check out www.fordracingparts.com/ the parts will only change if the car changes. And execpt for minor things, the '05 - '08 Stangs are the same.

Can't seem to find the part # or price.

Just head over to Ford Racing's website. The parts are all listed there. Now, there is a catch. The FR1 kit (cold air and reflash tool) ARE NOT available for the 2008's yet!! I ordered one for a new '08 and when the box arrived, it only said "2006 year only". I called Ford Racing, and they said its good for 2005-2007 GT. I asked what about the 2008 models (it said it was available for the 2008 online). He continued to tell me that the kit won't work yet, and they won't have it ready till end of year early January (the codes in the computer are different). Just be careful for anyone who is looking for this setup for their new 2008s, you'll have to wait. :nice:

Some of the aftermarket tuners already have tunes for the 08's, but then you have warranty issues. The delay for FRPP kits is the CARB certification, from what FR told me when I called.

Good information there. I hadn't realized that.

Makes sense. Just wish they would have started this sooner.

I started calling right after I ordered my 08 in late June and they told me they could not say what would and would work on an 08 and could not start developing the calibrations until they had an 08 to work with and at that time they had not seen one. Looks like they would have better access than that.

A ford racing intake and tune does not void the warranty?

Actually, none of them "void" the warranty. The warranty just won't cover anything directly caused by the mod. The FRPP CAI and tune will be covered by warranty (both the CAI and tune itself and anything that goes wrong with the car) IF installed by a Ford Dealer. This is a separate warranty provided by FRPP and lasts for 3 years/36k if the install is done prior to taking delivery or 12 months/12k if done afterwards. Many of the FRPP parts, including the non-intercooled supercharger, have this warranty. Note that Roush has similar warranty for its superchargers if done by a Roush dealer.

You can find all of the info at www.fordracinggparts.com. The CAI is M-9603-GT06. Check the front page for the ad for the 2005-2008 packages "now with limited warranty."

Question about FR CAI Tunes

Does anyone know if Ford Racing offers any tune for the 4.6 with the CAI other than the Premium Fuel Tune? I have seen other tuners offer tunes for 87, 89 and 91 octane fuels. I have an 08 GT/CS on Order and am interested in the CAI prior to delivery for warranty purposes -- thus the Ford Racing one -- but I'm not sure that I want to be forever tied to premium fuel. Any suggestions?

Let's refresh this forum. I'm trying to find out if anyone knows anything about the 2008 engine's computer adjusting timing based upon octane with the CAK and Ford Racing Tune. The Bullitt seems to do this. I'm trying to find out (and will talk w/ my service guy tomorrow) about this -- if so -- it is another +++ (in addition to the warranty) on the Ford Racing Package. Does anyone know?:poke:

To answer the original posters question, Ford has a kit but it seems to not be availible as of yet.

Part # is M-2007-FRIV6
Includes:CAI, Catback, Tune, and Filter

:banana:The CAI for the 2008 GT is now shipping. My dealer expects mine this week to finally get it installed -- I paid for it and expected it when the car was delivered. Ford Racing has kept promising -- but it should be in this week. When it is, I'll file a report and post some pics.:banana::banana:

My 2008 GT Kit is installed. It is indeed the Bullit airbox -- just with Ford Racing emblazoned on it. While I don't have dyno results, the seatopantometer says that it makes a difference. Pictures will be posted this weekend -- have to wash off the pollen first -- it is spring here.

What tune are you using, is the Ford Racing tune available for a '07?

c25sailor 3/24/08 12:32 PM

I am using the Ford Racing tune for 91 Octane. The 07 kit and tune has been available for some time -- you can get it from several places with their locked up tuner -- ford racing burns a non-adjustable tune. You can read all about it at www.fordracing.com
