Usually if track insurance is available the track will have a link to Lockton (the only one I know of). You can also just search for the event on lockton's page. https://locktonmotorsports.com/events

Price is around $200/day, right? That would be a great deal if you end up needing it, but roughly doubles the cost of a track day if you don't. I've been going bare, hope I am not sorry about that later!

The insurance seem ridiculously high based on what I've heard/seen for number of accidents (not counting actual racing). I think your regular insurance should cover you as long as your not in an actual competition. Heck, if I'm injured at the track my health insurance still pays the bill. Either that or have a special rider on the policy for amateur motorsports. A few hundred per year not a few hundred for a weekend event.

Hey ,what oil and filter are you guys using considering the sustained high RPM operation?
I have been using Motorcraft 5W-50 syn with the standard filter for the first 1-2 events of the year (since I used to take it in to get serviced once a year before it goes into winter storage and only drive about 7500 miles per year), and then middle of the summer I switch to Castrol Edge (Syntech) 5W-50 usually with Mobil 1 or Royar Purple filter. I'm about to do that this year, as I have ~3500 miles +2 track days on the Motorcraft, and I just purchased a few Ford Racing High Performance Filter. Has anyone used that filter?
I know it came with the Ford power Pack along with K&N filter, ProCal tuner and GT500 axle backs. I was always wondering why the filter came with that package. Does it flow more volume thus oiling the engine better?

I would like to know as well. Right now I still have some "free" oil changes left from the dealer but once those are gone I was looking at either Castrol, Mobil1 or Amsoil. Probably choose the Wix filter.

I have read that the FRPP oil filter does flow more freely and won't go into "bypass" as easily as the normal filters . . . . don't know if it really matters, but it sounds good to me, so I bought a case of them from tascaparts.com for about $12/each if I remember correctly
So yeah it's about $5 more than a "normal" filter but that sounds like $5 well spent to me.
My car is spec'ed for 5W-20 but I use 5W-30 for track time; and the Mobil 1 Extended Performance seems like a great value at about $27 / 5 quarts at Wal-Mart . . . . don't know if they offer a 5W-50

Glad I asked! I had no idea Wix even existed, and totally forgot about Driven oil products!
Yeah, that's a pretty good deal on full synthetic extended mileage oil. I think I'd run 30 weight over a 20 weight as well
I just spent $77 on 8qt of Castrol Edge 50 weight. My car is specked for it and I'd like to stick with what's on the cap. I've hears some people running 10W-40 but
I've also seen some Mustang guys at the track run Mobil 1 15W-50 since it's also cheap and easy to acquire.

There's a good thread on svtperformance.com about oil and how the Ford 5W50 isn't all that great and that it shears down rather quickly to a lighter weight. They were recommending Amsoil 10W40 for track use IIRC. That was before Amsoil had their 5W50. When I have more time I'll see if I can find the thread.

Yeah, I've seen that debate here before too. Even oil analysis showing how motorcraft 50 breaks down to 30 weight in the first 1000 miles or so.
You know what's funny though, I ran my first 2 track days with 4000 miles on the factory fill (and the car), which I'm sure is 5W-20 concentional or syn blend at best. In retrospect I should have changed out to full syn 5W-50 before that event, but hind sight is 20/20.
Just about to hit 3 years and over 20k miles with 10 track days under the belt and the 'Yote is still kicking. At least for now
If it fails at 50k I will know why, and I just might have to get the Aluminator XS.

I'm just about to hit 14K miles. Have changed the oil probably 5 times. I go by time more than miles since I'm not racking up as many miles. Currently at 9 track days. I expect 6 more this year though.

Wow, that's a great street to track mile ratio. I'm jealous! I only have 2 more this year.
Mine is about to get the 5th oil change. I'm treating it better as it ages.
I hope my engine lasts though, I don't need a huge expense like that. It would be cool to have an aluminator though!

I may be trading/selling my car at the end of the season and doing one of these 3 options:
1. 2013 SBY Laguna Seca from a guy I know.
2. 2017 GT Base Performance Pack and Recaros (base this time since I'm wanting a track car)
3. GT350 - this is a bit of a stretch depending on how much money I have left after selling my house and getting settled into a new one.
Although I've also thought about keeping this car and buying a Focus RS for more of a daily driver. I'd probably plast dip the stang silver at that point and really build it into a track car. Lots of options .
If your concerned about warranty you should look into BG Lifetime Protection Plan. I've been thinking about it but they don't make a 5W50...which I guess doesn't matter if they are the ones paying for a new engine instead of Ford. However, their heavier weight oils (10W30 and 15W40) are blends and fully synthetic. Again, not sure if it matters. This would require further investigation to see if it's worthwhile but I've heard mention that people who track their cars have had engines replaced under this plan. Although it only pays $4000 towards the engine so not quite enough for a whole new engine.

So I did my customary mid-summer oil change with Castrol Edge and Ford Racing oil filter. I didn't realize how much thicker this thing was (and yes, I know there is a "that's what she said" joke in there )
