1. Can anyone tell me what the difference is between "wax" and "polish"? For example, Mcguires has them both in their multi-step car care line.

2. Can you put too many coats of wax or polish on your car?

Thanks,

I have been using Maguires three-step process on my Laser red 99 GT since it was new. First you clean it using their swirl remover/clear coat cleaner. This should remove most of the swirls which come from washing the car over and over. Then you go over the car with their polish (which really brings out the pop in a metallic red paint job). Then you use their wax, which puts on a protective layer over the clear coat. I do that once a year before the first car show of the year (usually the Pensacola MCA show), and then all you have to do to keep it looking good is to do a light waxing once or twice during the summer/fall. It works for me, and I'm basically lazy.
