I searched and did not see another thread for this, so here it is.
If there is a thread out there and I missed it I am Sorry and please close this then.
What are your thoughts on using Rain - X on your windshield.
I use it on my Escort and love it, but I was told that the newer windshields have a special coating on them and you should not use Rain-X on the newer windshields.
Is this true? Anyone have any info to confirm or dispute this?
Thought I would get opinions before using it on my new Mustang.
Thanks in advance

Works great, when moving above 35-40 mph, the water beads right off without the wipers. The first application will leave the windshield a little hazy if you don't wipe it off correctly, but that will go away after the first rain. You'll probably have to redo it every other month or so.

Here's how to get the perfect Rain-X job the first time on your windshield.
Use a lint-free cloth at first.
Spray and wipe it, allow it to haze up (a few minutes).
Spray and wipe again, without removing the first coat. Let it haze up again.
Spritz it with a water spray bottle and polish it thouroughly with crumpled newspaper. Still some haze? Change newspaper and polish some more.
Just a thing of beauty.

Thanks for the replies.
Yes I love it on my ZX2, but wanted to make sure of the coating before I put it on my new baby.
And yes two coats of it always yields the best results.
Had never tried the newspaper though, will have to try it.

You can also use your wax that you use on the rest of the car on the windows/windshield. It basically does the same thing as rainx, water beads up and rolls right off. I use the Meguiars NXT on my windshield and it works great!

I have been using Rain-X for years. It makes seeing in the rain very good and safe. Its like night and day the difference seeing the road in a driving rain. I recommend it to all my friends. Try it for sure.

I'm definitely going to try this... The wiper speed on this car is dangerously low at its highest settings. I got Bosch Icon blades hoping they would help; They do a better job than other blades but still are limited by the speed.
The other day in heavy rain I was blind 50% of the time at 25mph

+whatever it is now to Rain-X
I wouldn't waste my money. Have taken some off that were just coming apart at work.
Only bad part I noticed when using a wax on the windshield is that theres a short haze to follow the wiper as it runs across the windshield. It goes away fairly quickly, but Rain-X does this without the haze.
