Thanks Boltzman! The part about Meguiar's Quick Wax not messing up the black plastic trim is a very important note. My 1989 GT was immaculate in every way - being 16 years old and all, at the time I sold her. The only flaw was what the various waxes and polishes had done to the black trim over the years. And no matter how hard you tried, some wax gets on the trim - and it krinkles the finish. I bought some black trim restorer from Griot's Garage and used it often, and it made the black trim black again, but the finish was never the same, and when it rained, the black would run like Alice Cooper's eye shadow!

Also my neighbor uses ICE and actually puts it on the trim as well... Being able to See it on the paint after you apply it is another animal all together though

If you've got a Wal-Mart nearby, you can get a great deal on the Mothers Clay Bar Kit (not the fake liquid clay) and FX SynWax -- I like SynWax better than NXT as it's got a similar look but is much easier to use. I'm not a fan of the Ice liquid polish, but I know it's got a fan base.
Regardless of brands you select, I'd:
Wash thoroughly with a quality car wash
Dress the trim with a product like Back-to-Black (this will also help prevent any trim from getting stained).
Clay (even a new car can benefit from claying)
Wax

Well, first I was using the three step Meguiar's Deep Crystal products with the liquid paint cleaner, liquid polish, and liquid wax. After i paint cleaned and polished already, now i just use the Meguiars Gold Class Paste Wax.
