I work at a Harley shop and I see boots melted to pipes quite often. Eazy-off is the best way to remove it, BUT it has to be the original smelly kind. And second you DO NOT want to get it on paint :nono: . It will eat it off also. So my recommendation is to spray it on a rag and then put the rag on the pipe. As far as the heat goes the pipe being warm will actually help the cleaning process. So you might do it one evening after you get home and are there for the evening, then check it the next morning.

I saw the big piece of plastic but I had to run over it.. Three lane highway with cars on both sides of me. I watched and it didn't come out the back.
I pulled over as soon as possible and pulled it out. What was left on the pipes burnt off with no problem other than the odor.
