Leather Seats and Seat Covers
Leather Seats and Seat Covers
Hey Guys, I'm wanting to get something to protect my leather seats in my '13. I clean and condition the seats but I want to avoid the day to day wear and tear as much as I can.
What are your thoughts on seat covers? I'm looking at the Space Mesh custom-fit covers by CoverKing ( https://www.coverking.com/seat-cover...tang-base.html )
My wife had brought something up that I didn't think of, what's the possibility of the material actually scratching the leather seats more than the normal wear and tear would? I'd love to get your thoughts!

I seriously doubt that a cover would scratch the seats. I don't even get scratches from pointy things in my pockets.
However I skipped the seat covers because I'm not convinced they'll help. I think what makes leather seats wear are stretching and wrinkles... And I don't think seat covers will help with that.
Also I've gotten conflicting reports but my understanding is a large percentage of the seat is vinyl anyway... Which is pretty tough.

The leather front seats are in fact part vinyl. The parts that would touch you sitting in the seat are leather - all the other portions are vinyl.
You can especially see it with convertibles. The leather darkens to exposure over time, and the vinyl fades.
The rear seats are all vinyl. About the only reason to have ordered the IUP ICAP is because you wanted the red interior elements.
