Hey all,

I heard Lenox is great for cleaning the leather, but there are quite a few different versions out there.
Would anyone recommend 1 over another?

Also, what does everyone use to clean the Dashboard and the carpets?

Just looking for suggestions.

 

I use 303 Aerospace Protectant on all rubber/plastic/leather/dash/etc.

 

interesting . . . I knew 303 was great for vinyl and plastic, but didn't know it was good for leather or pleather

 

I use ArmorAll Leather Care. Easy to use and doesn't 'stink' like some Leather care products out there.

What about the stone cloth?

I have leather in my current car, so I'm not too sure how easily the cloth can be cleaned.

 

How about this spot eliminator: http://www.autogeek.net/wg5000.html. It says you can use it on carpet or cloth.

What would you recommend cleaning the red leather with?

As for me with the dash i just use a damp cloth------no shine, but its clean and all looks same (no missing spots ala armor all)

 

I use Lexol cleaner / conditioner. Works great.

 

What about the King Ranch leather stuff, is that ok on non saddle leather?

 

I use Pinnacle/303 Aerospace/Lexol and they all work great. I would never use Armor All on anything though, the horror stories I hear are enough to keep me away.

When I wen't shopping for some Stoner's Invisible Glass at my local auto parts store a man and his wife walked in and he grabbed armor all car wash soap and said to her " Do you know that Armor All is the best thing to clean your car with"? I chuckled.

Are those horror stories current or old? I have heard things like "don't use armor all, it eats stitching" or "don't use it on your dash because it will crack" but it has been many years and I don't know if they've changed the formula.

What about the Armor All car wash -- I have been using it and it seems to work fine -- what is the problem with it?

And finally the Armor All leather care -- OK or bad stuff?

 

Lexol is a good one to start with, or if you're into spending the coin on it, Leather Master or Leatherique would be the ones I'd stick with.

 

1. Vacuum the seats to remove any big dirt particles, crumbs, etc
2. Clean the leather/vinyl seats by wiping them down with a damp (water) microfiber towel. For more intensive cleaning you can use a 10:1 mixture of water and woolite (10 parts water, 1 part woolite). This should only be necessary if your seats are stained.
3. Apply 303 Aerospace Protectant or a Lexol product to protect the finished leather/vinyl

I highly recommend 303 Aerospace Protectant because you can use it on finished leather, plastic, rubber, and vinyl. I use it on my seats, door panels, dash, center console, steering wheel, exterior trim, cladding, antenna, etc. I haven't seen 303 sold in stores in, but you can get a bottle online fairly cheap.

 

Optimum Car Wash (link) is probably the best. It has 4.5 stars on Autopia (car detailing forum). Otherwise, if you want something you can find locally I would recommend Meguiar's Gold Class Car Wash or Mothers California Gold Car Wash. i used armor all and i haven't seen any of the negative effects people mention

honestly, i didn't even know armor all is "bad" until a few months ago

 

I don't use AA because it looks greasy all the time. 303 leaves a much nicer and longer lasting finish.

 

Don't know, never used my car as a garbage dump.

 

I use Groit's to clean it and then Lenox to protect it. Stuff is awesome.
