I Tried Z16,Back to Black & TW Ice...
But nothing will bring back the black color on my son's 2000 Jeep Cherokee exterior trim. It sat outdoors for 8 years, and I don't know what, if anything, was ever used on the trim. (he bought it used) The jeep has very low miles, and is in good shape except for the trim. It is faded and a white, grey in places. Z16 works great on my 05,but she is and has been well cared for. I tried the Back to Black after seeing it mentioned here so often, but it faded after about a week. A good friend told me that TurtleWax Ice worked great on trim, but it really didn't help.(it did about the same as Back to Black) Any ideas? Thanks!

... or get new trim pieces. Depends on what level of restoration you have planned.

Sounds like the plastic has deteriorated from not being protected. UV can do quite the job on exterior and interior plastic parts. Not sure if anything you use can bring back the "black" look permanently.

Look for a product called Black Wow. If I had to do that, I would get that stuff. It's expensive, but it lasts forever.
Back to Black is an absolutely horrible product. It will mask things for a very short time and then run everywhere.

I have used bumper and trim reconditioning dye from griots garage.com This stuff works great . Brings that faded grey back to black. You have to clean all the products you put on off first. They sell a paint prep thats good for that also.Oh yeah no running or fading .

Thanks for the tips! Today I looked up Ultima Tire And Trim and Black Wow. They both sound good. Thinking about the trim paint-the Jeep's trim really is that bad.Guess now I'll read up on the dye from Griots Garage. After giving the Jeep the Zaino treatment a few weeks back, her paint looks great. This made the faded trim look worse though. I really hope I can bring it back to life. Thanks again!
