Had a particular pump I would use with my '05 that would cut out continuously. Always pissed when somebody else was using it when I rolled up.

Two words. Ford's Defect. I've quoted a fix but I'm not paying ford 1200$ to "fix" the problem.

Yeah he was pissed and researched it too. We stopped at a pump and I saw her do it. Looks like it sucked.

So she turns the nozzle upside down as well?

What year? Did you get the TSB done?
How many miles? Have you checked the crossover to the saddle tanks? Are your vapor recovery lines pinched? Charcoal filter?

Here's some ideas:

Quickly:

It is a two part problem. The gas is going into a saddle bag tank, and the restricted neck between the two sides of the tank will cause the filling action to build up pressure if the gas is going in too fast AND/OR, the charcoal filter cannister is blocked or such, causing the backpressure that makes the pump stop.

The other part is the sensitivity of the nozzle due to the backpressure, and I've found that the ones with a 'docking tube' on them are the worst offenders by far, and using the ones without that goofy tube fixes the problem.

That, and don't be in such a dang hurry you can't fill up on the lowest possible pump speed.

All that coupled with a *really* weird fuel inlet tube... it actually climbs uphill a little before going into the tank.

I rarely have to turn mine over. Mainly because I don't mind an extra 2 minutes to fill up, and I try like heck to not use the docking tube pumps. Oh, and I picked up on if you 'slosh' the tank by pushing on the side of the car, thereby (I guess?) moving a little more fuel to the right side, it'll stop doing it for a little bit. Maybe I'm just delusional about that last though.

I'm on my third s197 and have never had that happen on any of them. I guess I'm just lucky.

I've had this problem in my 2000 but it usually only happens at " older" gas station

I just asked my son about his '05 and he said that he has to occasionally turn it 90 degrees.

I've filled up 11 times since I've owned the car, and I've never had a problem at the pump. Other than that the numbers seem to count a little higher every time I go there. Stupid gas prices. It'll be nice not to have to commute 50 miles a day to school and back over the summer. Should save me quite a bit.

Yeah I have no issues on 08 Bullitt, but my 83 F150 needs to be set on the slow setting or it clicks off. It doesn't have saddle tanks, just 2 tanks and they both have to fill slow.
