School me on driving in a parade
Later this month during the annual lilac day parade here I'll have the opportunity to drive my car with the rest of the Inland Empire Mustang Club. Anybody else driven in a parade before? Specifically with a manual transmission? It sounds like a lot of fun, but it also sounds like it might be like sitting in an hour and a half of rush hour traffic, and I don't want to put excess wear and tear on the clutch.
Thoughts? Advice?
Also, in general, whether it be in a parade or just in busy stop and go traffic when movement is too slow to just let the car idle forward in first, what do you recommend as the best way to proceed without unnecessary wear? Is it better to slip the clutch, or lug the engine by using the brakes to slow the car rolling?

I'll be in the group of cars that leads the parade if I do take part, so we wont be stuck behind a marching band or anything...
Also, it's not my leg I'm worried about, it's the clutch. haha

I spent 2 1/2 years in Ft Lauderdale and 4 1/2 years in Houston, and every day driving to and from work was the same as driving in a parade. Better than that was driving out of Houston for hurricane Rita. 8 hours to go 12 miles.
Yeah, do lots of leg excersises....
