Why does no one consider the Valentine brand? I'm a double E and all my brothers are double E's and they work exclusively with radar for the gov't (actually Lockheed Martin) and they've taken apart the Valentines and say they are far superior to all brands. Escort included.

Just curious as to why its always Escort everyone jumps on.

Ray I like the idea, just think like the rest maybe all black would look best. It does have a Porsche hint to it though.

Lowered sounds good also.

Hey guys I finally got the HID's installed on the GT this afternoon. Only took an hour, it was actually fairly easy compared to previous HID installs I've done on my wifes Civic and daughters 4Runner.

I'll post some pics later on tonight after the sun goes down. They look sweet (to me at least)

My three reasons:

1) Escort has been around for a LONG time and has the reputation.
2) The Valentine one is big and bulky.
3) Escort is one of the only ones with the cordless unit, and since it is used in multiple cars and must be removed when crossing the border into VA (illegal in VA), the Solo S2 was the obvious choice in my situation.

Well, I stand corrected. Escort's website specifically states that the 8500 and 9500 have significantly longer range on K and Ka bands.

However, I still think that unless you're on a long, straight road with no one else on the road, the range won't really be a HUGE issue. Also, if you're going that fast that you need all the range you can get, you should probably re-evaluate your driving.

I personally use a radar detector just as a "safety" to know what's out there and to alert me. I do NOT use it as a replacement for safe driving.

Up here, the favorite mode of enforcement on long straight highways (all 4 of them) is clocking you with an aircraft.
The only way to tell if they are around is police radio scanner.
Radar/ladar detectors are perfectly legal. (The S.P. kinda laugh at them.)

I think the Valentine has proven itself in the radar detector world. That design is very old and still is arguably the best radar detector out there. That design is also a huge drawback to it. That is the one complaint most people have about the Val. I don't see the need for a cordless unit personally. I can move mine from car to car and take it down quite easily. That being said, I still think the Solo is a good detector. I just think there are much better detectors for the money.

I can't believe I'm going to root for Eli in a game...I just hate the Cowboys enough to. Eli just shredded my Bucs today. That was pathetic.

Opinions, from what you've read(or not have read) about the OBX headers... Worth the risk buying "off brand"? I've been doing some reading on other options like JBA(SS409 - $530 shipped) or BBK(Ceramic coated - $515 shipped) and give or take another $180 for a O/R H. But of course $480 total sounds good. I've always been the type to buy the best once and not worry about it. But its considerable savings with all positive reviews from anyone whose actually installed them.

I guess this is more of a rant?

Racing Fuel 101 Octane

This evening I was fuleing up the Highlander when I notice that this Unical 76 gas station sells Velocity 101 octane racing fuel @ $6.89.9th a gallon yike! I didn't realize it was available at a local gas station. I always thought you had to buy it at a speed shop. Any of you local boys use this? I wonder if you can mix some of this with 91 octane? Kick it up a notch, any mad scientist try this in your street stang?

Below is a link to more stations that sells this fuel in SoCal

I've only run into a few gas stations around with high octane fuel, Im not sure about the mixing, because you may not have the compression to efficiently burn that higher octane fuel.

Not sure if I posted this or not but I'm getting a killer deal on my tires. I got a qoute online from "discount tire" and it was 964 out the door. I'm getting them from my local discount tire out the door for 681.80. That includes mounting/balancing/install and their tire replacement warranty. All I did was call them and tell them the best online price I found which was $155 from "buywheelstoday". So I'm getting them for $155 each instead of $185. Plus I got a $50 military discount (I'm still a "reservist" until July of this year) . I'm so happy I saved close to $300 just for taking the time to hunt around online. Best part is the guy at DiscountTire didn't even haggle me he just took my word for it that it was $155. All this isn't even including whatever I get for the old tires on craigslist. The internet is great.

I like the Big Truck horn. Need to find a replacement for my whimpy Tacoma horn that sounds like a kazoo.

If you can't use the front spacers, I'm sure someone will take them off your hands.

Pretty sure you'll need a new tune to run the 101. $6.89 P/G for a non-daily isn't too bad.
