Sorry if I missed any other replies, but this tells me enough (and thanks for the call, Bill!). I checked mine before removing the filter and it was at about 1/2 the way up the hashmarks. And I just changed the oil and filter during the turbo install. (6 quarts)

There's a small line running to the turbo, the amount of oil in the turbo, and a thick line running from the turbo (the drain). I'm not sure how much actually sits in all that area compared to running back to the oil pan.

I added half a quart after installing the new filter and ran it until fully warm. I just got back from spending the day at EPCOT, and it was about 3/4 of the way up the hashmarks. Guess I'll add a little more to get it closer to the top like you guys.

Not sure how much our tiny filters hold, but it's not a quart (that's why I guessed at 1/2 a quart). Guess I need another 1/4 quart?

Not a problem! Be warned though, pit crew demands In-n-Out or Pizza Hut.

Probably.. always start low and add as necessary (kinda like adding salt to food ).

Good to see you are using the stock tires for all they are worth Brian. Those are some awesome pics.

I love the way those LCAs look Bill. I guess we'll be seeing some more of them soon.

That last picture you can't really see the ducktail & stripes.
It looks like my car is doing the smoke.

HA... I never thought of them as wallpaper. Thanks.

I can get the pic in some regular resolution if you guys want so you're not stretching it from 800X600 out to whatever...The originals are at 3456X2304 so I can resize 'em to just about anything and then post the attachment or PM. just let me know which ones and I'll do them today.

So I don't forget ...
I wish you all a very Merry Christmas. Best holiday wishes to you and your family.

And Merry Christmas to you Brian and your family!!!!!

Hope everyone's enjoying their Christmas Eve.

I'll be ordering new tires within the next couple of weeks. Only problem... I'm not sure if I want Nitto 555's or BFG KDW2. I'll be doing 255/45/18 all around. Yes I'd love to go staggered but it's not an option right now since I'm sold on the look of the factory bullits.

Let's do a quick poll.

1)BFG KDW2

2)NITTO 555'S

What benefit or disadvantage would their be to getting a 50 side profile as opposed to 45? What would be the difference measurement wise between the two.

My .02 is for teh BFG KDW2s. I love the tread pattern. Don't know too much about the triple nickels or Nitto for that matter so I can't qualify a reasonable opinion on them.

45 vs 50..
The 50s are going to be a little taller than the stock tire.
Stock Tire
Sidewall 4.6
Radius 13.6
Diameter 27.3
Circumference 85.6

255/50
Sidewall 5.0
Radius 14.0
Diameter 28.0
Circumference 88.1
speedo @60: actual speed 61.7

255/45
Sidewall 4.5
Radius 13.5
Diameter 27.0
Circumference 84.9
Speedo @60: actual speed 59.5

http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

Now that being said... For you I don't think you notice any performance increase if you go to the 45. Since it has a smaller sidewall it should be stiffer and therefore handle better in the corners, but I don't think you do much driving like that so you might not see an increase.
The pro for the 50s is that it will fill the dead cat hole better and it won't look like you've got too small of a tire on the car. Probably be a little cheaper too.

From those two choices I like:

BFG KDW2

But my fantasy tire is:

Goodyear F1 Eagle it's going to look nice I think on the ROUSH!

I'm facing just about the same situation as you Leo. I was considering 555s and Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercars. I was then recommended to look at the BFG KDW2s. I love the tread pattern of the KDWs, but my friend had them on his BMW and they were annoyingly loud. (not the KDW2s) I know of a few people that have 555s and love them. They aren't good in rain, but what do you care? I have to worry about that a little more than the Cali folks.

Thanks for the breakdown. So now my question is would the 50 sidewall drop my rpm's any?

Replied to your thread. The pics were scary.

I've looked into those. They're very pricey though. I'm sure that's no problem for "big balla" Jed.
